We have a new vacancy for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be based at our site in Shipley, with occasional travel to Wortley as required.

Your mission in CMbE
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electrical control systems that meet customer requirements while supporting the continuous improvement of existing products and the introduction of new technologies. The role involves taking ownership of projects from initial concept through to implementation, testing and handover into production.
Working closely with the wider engineering team, the Senior Electrical Engineer ensures the smooth integration of new machinery and supports the ongoing development of team capability across electrical design, software, testing and commissioning. There are elements of hands-on work, requiring both strong technical expertise and effective collaboration. This role is predominantly based in Shipley with occasional requirements to work in Wortley. The ability to travel globally is also required on occasion.

About You

The successful candidate will have significant experience designing and commissioning control systems for high-speed production machinery. Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, particularly across Rockwell and Siemens platforms, is essential, including PLC and HMI programming.
The role requires proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD or Eplan, along with experience in producing schematics, bills of materials and bespoke control solutions. A solid understanding of safety systems, servo drives and automation principles is also required.
Candidates will demonstrate strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, experience working with customer specifications and the confidence to provide technical support. Good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively are essential.

The candidate must be qualified to a minimum of a HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with a BEng in Electrical Engineering being desirable. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organised and proactive, with a practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving. They are able to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
They work well as part of a team, communicating effectively across departments, while also being confident in taking ownership of their own work. They are driven to challenge existing methods, contribute to continuous improvement and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
