Job Summary:   

The Senior Director, Quality Engineering will lead cross-functional quality engineering initiatives across R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain to drive best-in-class quality standards for high-volume semiconductor products. Partner with foundry partners and internal teams to ensure exceptional customer experience while managing a geographically distributed technical team focused on product quality excellence.

This strategic leadership role is critical to our continued market leadership in high-speed optical transceiver solutions, driving quality improvements that directly impact customer satisfaction and business growth.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Quality Leadership (50 %)

  • Develop and execute comprehensive quality strategy aligned with business objectives, targeting reduction in RMA rates and improved customer satisfaction scores.

  • Define and manage cross-functional quality engineering approach resulting in measurable improvements throughout the delivery lifecycle (New Product Development, Manufacturing, and ISO compliance).

  • Represent Quality across the Senior Leadership Team and drive organizational change initiatives.

  • Lead quality risk assessments for new product launches and technology transitions.

Team Management & Operations (10 %)

  • Manage a technical team across multiple site locations with full P&L responsibility for quality operations including Product Quality Engineering and Foundry Supplier Quality Engineering Teams.

  • Drive expedient and effective hands-on diagnosis of customer escalated issues, ensuring resolution within defined SLA targets.

  • Develop high-performing technical teams through coaching, mentoring, and career development programs.

  • Report progress internally and externally to customers in a timely and professional manner.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement (10 %)

  • Actively participate and drive continual improvement practices across the new product introduction development process (Product Definition, Tape Out, and Product Release Phases).

  • Collaborate with Assembly, Test, and Foundry SQE teams to implement process improvements and best practices.

  • Identify and apply industry benchmarks to develop "best-in-class" QA process models and target performance metrics.

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to optimize quality processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration (30%)

  • Manage Product Quality initiatives among Design, Marketing, Product & Test Engineering Organizations.

  • Establish and maintain processes for new product introduction, technology development, process transfers, and failure analysis investigations.

  • Partner proactively with Business Units to anticipate and address quality requirements.

  • Interface with suppliers and foundry partners to ensure quality standards throughout the supply chain.

Travel Required: 20% to 30%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic, Applied Physics, Material Science Engineering or related degree. PhD is a plus.

  • Solid Knowledge of product engineering fundamentals with an emphasis on Analog/Mix Signal Optical transceiver IC products ranging from 100Mbps to over 400Gbps, supporting standards such as Fibre Channel, InfiniBand®, Ethernet, Passive Optical Network (PON).

  • Solid knowledge of semiconductor device physics; including practical experience with SiGe and CMOS FinFET technology. Ability to identify semiconductor device failure mechanisms.

  • 7+ years of demonstrated managerial experience in at least one or a combination of product engineering, test, or design in a complex IC merchant environment. IDM or Fabless Experience is acceptable.

  • Effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization, possessing a thorough written and verbal command of the English language.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Semiconductors/Integrated Circuits Manufacturing & Test

  • Proven ability to solve problems, analyze data using statistical concepts and tools

  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, ideally Green/Black Belt certified

  • Certified Lead Auditor ISO9001/14001/18001.

  • Knowledge of ISO/TS16949 and ISO26262 requirements is a plus.
