Position Overview
The Senior Director of Energy Solutions & Infrastructure Development is a key leadership role responsible for shaping strategy and driving the delivery of large-scale energy projects across the EMEA region to power next-generation data centers. This position leads multi-disciplinary teams to ensure projects align with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and sustainability
commitments. A core focus is developing innovative solutions to complex energy challenges while fostering collaboration within a matrix environment. The role includes direct line management of departmental staff and serves as a critical member of the leadership team, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Energy, EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement energy strategies and operating models for powering large scale data centres (>100MW) and campuses (>500MW). Energy strategies will inform real estate, supply chain and operational decisions. Strategies will be dynamic to manage emerging risks and capture opportunities.
- Project Guidance: Provide leadership and oversight throughout different phases of energy projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, fiscal discipline, expediency of decision making and quality expectations.
- Commercial Management: Lead and oversee the commercial development of energy projects, taking responsibility for steering projects from early-stage commercial negotiations through to the final investment decision (FID), ensuring robust financial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and risk assessment at each stage.
- Innovation: Champion the pursuit and implementation of innovative solutions, fostering a culture that encourages creative problem-solving and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to enhance project outcomes and organisational impact.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and build high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. This includes direct line management responsibilities such as recruitment, performance appraisals, professional development, and resource allocation. Collaborate effectively across functional areas and business units within a matrix organisational structure to achieve project and organisational goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, industry partners, and local communities across EMEA to ensure project support and successful delivery.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee budget preparation and management, identify funding opportunities, and ensure financial sustainability and risk mitigation for all projects in the region.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all development activities comply with relevant EMEA laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly in energy regulation, and environmental matters.
- Innovation and Sustainability: Champion the adoption of new technologies and sustainable practices in energy, supporting the company’s net-zero and decarbonisation goals regionwide.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Senior Vice President of Energy, the executive team, and the Board of Directors on project progress, risks, and strategic opportunities relevant to the EMEA region.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Business, or a related field (postgraduate qualification preferred).
- MBA or equivalent qualifications or experience in Business Strategy or Finance.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 12 years in energy project development, including at least 5 years in senior leadership.
- Proven track record managing large-scale projects to Final Investment Decision (FID), ideally in renewables or energy storage within the EMEA region.
- Strong understanding of EMEA regulatory frameworks, planning processes, and industry standards.
- Significant experience in line management, including recruitment, team leadership, and performance management. Ability to lead in a matrix environment and collaborate across multiple regions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, commercial agreements, and deliver results oriented project management.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders—government, industry, and community groups—with outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop vision and strategy, drive change, and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Additional Information:
- Travel may be required across sites within the EMEA region to visit project sites and attend stakeholder meetings
