Job Description

Senior Director - Cost Management - Commercial Development Sector Lead

Our London + South East Cost Management plans to continue to grow our existing 130 strong team, as we successfully secure projects with many high-profile clients and as a direct result, we are currently seeking a Senior Director in our London Cost Management team, with a strong and proven track record in Commercial Office Development to help with our cost management profile, work winning capability and growth.

The role is market facing, including leading client engagement, business development, marketing and PR, to continue to raise the profile of AECOM and specifically the London Cost Management team. The role will include taking responsibility for the care and growth of both new and existing clients and development of Revenue on behalf of the business. 
As a Director, the ability to successfully manage and deliver complex, high profile projects and the Client Relationships those entail, will be absolutely key - none more so than in the commercial office and high rise portfolio of schemes, which AECOM have successfully delivered.

The role will cover the whole project lifecycle from identifying opportunity, initial inception and through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery, final accounts and post completion aftercare. You will be ultimately be responsible for the technical delivery of the schemes that you are leading for your Clients.
You will possess the skills and experience to actively support the internal team and manage both senior and more junior staff (including Associates, project directors and regional directors) on technically complex projects, typically ranging between £1000m to over £1bn.

You will help drive new and develop collaborative relationships with our existing and new clients and other professional colleagues within the industry. You will have day to day client point of contact responsibility for projects and indeed escalation where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be connected in the London market, organised and self-motivated, being able to successfully work with fellow Senior Leaders in a collaborative manner.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of AECOM's London + South East Cost Management Leadership team and the wider Buildings + Places Public Sector leadership, working with other key disciplines across the business. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing) with an emphasis on commercial offices, development and central London Towers
  • Proven ability of strong client relations, ability to actively provide business development opportunities with existing and new clients, ensuring these are identified and acted upon and generate winning new commissions, including high profile connections with other delivery team members such as architects, project managers and engineers
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and deliver business development opportunities through writing and converting bid commissions, to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time.
  • To ‘win’ clients through strong business development skills
  • Have extensive networks of connections and strong working relationships with other cost managers - with an added focus on being able to bring in and drive new delivery teams
  • Proven leadership within cost management business and provide leadership, management and mentoring to the team
  • Proven ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes
  • Manage the delivery of cost management outputs in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards
  • Co-ordination and sign-off on all information produced by the cost management team prior to formal issue externally
  • You will ideally be a self-motivated individual from a consultancy or client organisation background with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Proven experience in a consulting environment/client organisation providing the full spectrum of Cost Management services
  • Significant experience of Education, Science and Commercial projects and clients is a priority


Qualifications

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management
  • Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institutions
