You have proven expertise independently operating and scaling cloud-based platforms, with deep hands-on experience applying DevOps best practices end to end in production environments.

  • Deep hands-on knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Route 53, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, IAM, ACM, KMS, and VPC.
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline design, scripting, and programming, with solid command of GIT, Linux, and SUSE.
  • Proven ability to lead incident management, root cause analysis, and implement continuous service improvements in complex, high-availability environments.
  • Experience in systems administration, database administration, and landscape maintenance across globally distributed cloud environments.

  • In addition to the skills and experience specific to this role, all positions at SAP require candidates who are comfortable using approved Sovereign Cloud AI tools — including approved Sovereign Cloud agentic AI — in their day-to-day work, from crafting effective inputs and automating routine tasks, to evaluating AI-generated outputs for quality and driving adoption of AI practices within their teams.

We also look for people who build trust naturally, communicate with clarity, keep the customer at the centre of what they do, and bring emotional intelligence and genuine problem-solving ability to the challenges they face.

What you'll build

You will take end-to-end ownership of cloud service operations across a globally distributed team, ensuring the highest standards of security, performance, and reliability.

  • Provision, monitor, and operate cloud services, maintaining system health, availability, and scalability in a distributed environment.
  • Analyse and resolve operational issues, lead incident response, and conduct root cause analysis to embed learnings into continuous service improvements.
  • Design, build, and automate processes for deployment, testing, scalability, and observability of services.
  • Develop and maintain policies and standards for computing resource allocation and cloud governance.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to design and enhance services, and cross-train with global team members.
  • Support on-call rotation, including flexibility for scheduled maintenance and after-hours work when needed.

Due to the potentially classified nature of our work, you are required to subject yourself to a governmental security clearance process (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels) and job offer and employment will be conditional on obtaining security clearance.
