Senior Development Engineer – Rates Risk Technology (VP)

What We do / The Team
Rates Technology is looking to hire an experienced Engineer based in London. This is a global team with a client base spanning 70+ countries. This role will be within the Risk Technology team.
Risk Technology is focused on delivering solutions to the Rates Trading desks. This team develops and maintains a complete suite of Risk technology solutions, for both the Rates and FX (including Derivatives) Businesses.
Role Overview/What will you do:
- This role will provide a unique opportunity to gain exposure to different asset classes in a Tier 1 investment bank.
- Responsible for ownership of set of software components
- Working primarily as lead of a team of experienced developers
- Become SME (Subject Matter Expert) for components and services that you own
- Improving, designing, maintaining back-end software systems
- Liaising with other team leads and functional component owners to deliver new features
- Working with planning team to advise delivery timelines for business requests
- Reduce tech debt, ensuring use of latest and most secure components and libraries
Key Skills and Experience required –
- Extensive experience in Applications Development role within the Rates domain and/or Risk management
- Proven knowledge of SDLC and Trade lifecycle
- Proficiency in C# .net, with a good understanding of IT fundamentals
- Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with front-office stakeholders
- Proven people management experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Knowledge of industry practices and standards
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Essential
- Proven experience developing .NET applications in C# (some F#)
- Several years’ experience working in financial IT environment
- Several years in leadership role with people management experience
- Experience with messaging and event streaming technologies (RabbitMQ, TIBCO EMS, Kafka)
- Experience with .NET Core and Linux environments
Desirable
- Experience managing and planning feature deliveries in Sprints (Scrum)
- Experience with database and object storage integration (MSSQL, MongoDB, S3, KDB)
- Experience with task management and resource allocation tools (Jira)
- Experience with code management and tracking tools (Bitbucket, GitHub)
- Experience with build/deployment pipelines (TeamCity, uDeploy)
Beneficial
- Awareness of test-driven-development and importance of test environments (QA/UAT)
- Awareness of scheduling and monitoring systems
