Senior Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Developer to support the delivery of secure, modern digital products and services across Government and Defence.

You will work within a multidisciplinary agile team to design, build, test and deploy cloud-based applications and services, primarily within AWS environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Build cloud-based applications and services within AWS.
• Develop solutions using technologies including Python, JavaScript and SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Design, build and integrate APIs and services.
• Work with databases, data flows and integrations between systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure and testable code.
• Contribute to testing throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use GitHub, Docker and modern engineering and DevOps practices.
• Work closely with Architects, Product, Design, User Research and Testing colleagues.
• Translate user and business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders throughout delivery, communicating progress, technical decisions and potential challenges.
• Contribute to technical design, engineering standards and continuous improvement.
• Support and mentor other developers where appropriate.
• Support solutions through development, deployment and live operation.

What We're Looking For

• Strong software development experience within modern digital environments.
• Strong development experience in Python and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing applications and services within AWS environments.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating APIs.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, testing and secure development practices.
• Experience using Git and platforms such as GitHub.
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Ability to understand user and business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience within Government, Defence or other secure environments would be beneficial.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled applications or integrations would be advantageous but is not essential.

Security Clearance

Due to the security requirements of the assignment, candidates must hold current SC clearance prior to commencing the role and be able to maintain the required clearance for the duration of the assignment.
