The Data Science & Analytics organization's mission is to increase our speed, frequency and acumen of making decisions at scale by instilling a data-influenced approach to building products. We cover a wide area of the data spectrum including analytical data engineering, product analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling and machine learning. Aligned and partnering with product groups, we use this vast tool belt to discover new opportunities and unmet use cases, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build data products and measure the impact on our community of players and developers.

At Roblox, our mission is to connect a billion people with optimism and civility. We are seeking a data science leader to join our Data Science & Analytics organization. As a Senior Data Science Manager, Social, you will apply your expertise in analytics, stats and causal inference to inform, evaluate and enhance our company growth strategy. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data-driven strategies that maximize the impact of our user growth initiatives. Additionally, you will partner with the VP of product to build industry-leading social features to reimagine the way people come together in the metaverse.
You Will:
- Lead a small and mighty team of data scientists to focus on company growth, including reporting, diagnostics and strategic analysis to inform company strategies and product planning.
- Directly collaborate with the Head of Social teams to implement & drive data-driven strategies for product development to grow user engagement.
- Design experiment and quasi-experimental measurement accounting for social network effects.
- Establish foundational Social metrics frameworks and operationalize them within our XFN teams.
- Work alongside broader data science teams on shaping and iterating the roadmap for data science products/platform.
You Have:
- An advanced or equivalent degree in a quantitative field: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related fields
- 7+ years of industry or equivalent experience in Data Science, preferably in Growth and gaming/social industry. 10+ years of relevant work experience in user growth
- 3+ years experience in leading and developing teams
- Proficiency with SQL or relational databases and at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python)
- Expertise in causal inference, experimentation, and advanced statistical techniques for evaluating marketing campaign effectiveness
- Proven track record to collaborate with engineering, and product management teams to set technical and product direction for a large-scale platform
- The ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to diverse audiences, including executives
- Experience influencing strategy through data-centric presentations and deep understanding of user behavior and marketing dynamics
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$316,480—$366,350 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
