Senior Data Protection Advisor

A bit about the job:

Data is essential for Aviva Investors, and this role directly assists the business areas in aligning with Data Protection regulations. You will provide critical support for the oversight of our Data Governance and Protection frameworks. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) you will continually build and maintain a culture of awareness and understanding for all our employees. You will regularly advise on data privacy and governance matters, support the creation of policies and guidelines, deliver training, and support and challenge the development of compliant processes relating to a broad range of data processing.  You will assist the business with carrying out Privacy Assessments, maintaining their Records of Processing Activities and critical data registers and oversight compliance with the Record Retention rules. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is one of our key strategic controls for the prevention and detection of company and personal data loss from our business. Working closely with our Aviva Group IT and security teams, you will be responsible for the monitoring of daily ‘alerts’ triggered by the Data Loss Prevention tools and pro-actively input into the continuous development of policies to reduce the risk of data loss. You will also need to supervise monitor and assess data processing activities to ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws, including GDPR and our data governance framework.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, especially GDPR.

  • Experience of working closely with an IT environment.

  • Experience of conducting committees/meetings and producing high quality MI and reporting.

  • An understanding of Data Governance principles
