Senior Data Privacy Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

This is a great job for someone who understands the investment management business, fund structures and processes, alongside an understanding of Data Governance principles.

A bit about the job:

We are seeking a Senior Data Privacy Manager to join the Data Governance & Privacy Office on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. In this pivotal role, you will ensure Aviva Investors protects personal and confidential data in line with UK/EU GDPR and internal governance standards, providing specialist expertise that enables colleagues across UK and international markets to operate safely, compliantly, and confidently. Acting as a key control point, you will help identify, prevent, and mitigate data protection risks—particularly through DLP monitoring and governance oversight—while supporting the Data Protection Officer in maintaining a robust and effective Data Protection Framework. As a subject matter expert, you will strengthen our data culture by driving awareness, delivering training, guiding best‑practice behaviours, and advising on a wide range of privacy and governance matters. You will also contribute to the development of policies and guidelines, challenge and support the design of compliant processes, and play a crucial role in shaping how we protect information across the organisation. Working as part of the Data Governance & Privacy Office and reporting to the Head of Data Governance & Privacy, you will make key decisions on prioritising issues, assessing controls, escalating risks, interpreting regulatory requirements, and presenting meaningful analysis and reporting to support strong oversight and governance.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, especially GDPR.

  • Good understanding of information security principles and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • IAPP CIPP/E or equivalent data protection qualification.

  • Experience of working closely with an IT environment.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in

  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus

  • Family friendly parental and carer’s leave

  • Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidays with the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days

  • Up to 40% discount for Aviva products

  • Aviva-funded Private Medical Benefit to help you get expert support when you need it

  • Brilliant flexible benefits including electric cars

  • Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme

  • 21 volunteering hours per year

Aviva is for everyone:

We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don’t, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working –spending around 50% of their time in our offices every week - combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
