The Opportunity

As Bionic continues its journey to become the UK’s leading tech-enabled SME platform, we are looking for a Data and Insights Lead to elevate our data capability and drive transformation through data-driven decision-making.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s data strategy, and culture, ensuring that insight, automation, and analytics sit at the heart of how we operate and support commercial value.

Reporting directly to the Chief Sales & Operations Officer, you’ll lead a growing team responsible for data analytics, data science, reporting, insights and governance, helping Bionic unlock value across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and deliver Bionic’s enterprise-wide data strategy, aligning data initiatives with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Champion data as a strategic asset, fostering a culture of data literacy and evidence-based decision-making across all functions.

2. Data Governance & Quality

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards (including GDPR).
  • Build scalable systems and processes in the context of Data Reporting and Data Science to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability across platforms.

3. Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Translate data into actionable insights that drive revenue growth, customer retention, and operational efficiency.
  • Apply statistical modelling, machine learning, and AI to solve complex business problems.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools.
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop dashboards, KPIs, and predictive models that support commercial and customer strategies.

4. Technology & Infrastructure

  • Oversee the design and implementation of data platforms, pipelines, and tools that enable real-time analytics and automation.
  • Work closely with Technology and Product teams to ensure data systems are robust, scalable, and integrated with core business applications (CRM, Amazon Connect, etc.).

5. Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing data team, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise.
  • Foster collaboration between Data, Sales, Engineering, Commercial, Marketing, and Operations to ensure data-driven alignment across the organisation.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Solid experience in data leadership roles within high-growth, tech-enabled or performance-driven organisations.
  • Proven track record of designing and executing enterprise data strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong technical foundation in modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Power BI, DBT, Python, or similar) and data reporting: Tableau (preferred), Power BI or similar visualization tools.
  • Deep understanding of data product, data architecture, data warehousing, data science and advanced analytics (including AI/ML applications).
  • Experience in transforming data functions to support automation, CRM optimisation, and customer experience enhancement.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking.

Person Attributes:

  • Strategic & hands-On: Able to think long-term while diving into the details when needed.
  • Curious & analytical: You seek to understand the ‘why’ behind every metric and enjoy solving complex problems with data.
  • Collaborative & Influential: You work cross-functionally, translating data insights into actionable business strategies and commercial value.
  • Low Ego, high impact: You lead with authenticity, humility, and a drive to make things better — every single day.
  • Customer-obsessed: You care deeply about using data to improve customer outcomes and experience.
