Senior Data Analyst

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is currently recruiting a Senior Data Analyst to join a growing QBE Portfolio Solutions (QPS) underwriting team in our London office. QPS is a market-leading smart-follow underwriting team within QBE Europe’s International Markets division.

In this position you will be responsible for working with end-users to build, automate and enhance the data capabilities of the team, while liaising with colleagues in our Data Science function.

Activities will include building models and data analytics to support underwriting decision-making,  using automated business information tools to build out our MI capabilities, and building automation to deliver greater efficiency within our operation.

Your New Role

• Lead impact assessment, problem investigation, analysis, and resolution to maintain and improve the quality and coverage of data within systems and data solutions

• Lead source system and data analysis, and source-to-target mapping to actively understand the source, quality, and document lineage of our data flows

• Respond to data related questions and enquiries, using available data tools and procedures and ensuring adherence to QBE’s defined processes and best practice guidelines

• Provide clear visibility of projects and its progress through to issues resolution

• Be aware of the Data Strategy to appropriately align effort with this direction and positively promote the department, division, and company, to maximize brand leverage and develop team profile. 

• Contribute and actively support the development of an advanced Data Analysis Practice and liaise with our Data Science colleagues.

About You

• Good experience of working with and querying/extracting data from front-end applications

• Good experience with wide variety of (large volume) data sources and data analysis

• Strong experience of data analysis, data cleansing routines and root-cause analysis

• Some experience of database tools (Databricks) or languages (SQL/Python)

• Some experience of data-wrangling tools (Alteryx/Pandas/Spark)

• Strong experience working with business representatives to identify and document business requirements

• Some insurance knowledge to aid understanding of business-problems

• Microsoft office package
