Epic's multi-specialized team of attorneys and legal professionals partner across our organization to provide legal solutions as well as consult and inform on the products we build and games we develop.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a passionate and collaborative generalist to join our game and ecosystem product counsel team. You will serve as primary and front-line legal support for and across Epic’s game and ecosystem products, features and projects. Partnering closely with legal subject matter experts, you will provide hands-on, cutting edge legal advice and guidance throughout all phases of our products’ life-cycle.

In this role, you will
  • Cultivate partnerships across Epic’s teams, including the engineering, development, design, monetization, product, engagement, growth, paid media, marketing and Epic’s broader legal teams.
  • Bring a deep working knowledge of U.S. and international laws and regulations related to game development, design, monetization, advertising, UGC content and technology for console, PC, mobile games, and subscription-based business models.
  • Provide practical, clear and easy to understand legal advice to a broad range of teams, explaining complex legal advice in business-friendly terms. Advise and support the management of multi-stakeholder regulatory compliance projects.
  • Conduct rights clearance, issue spotting and risk assessment for our Epic first and third party games on/for new and existing platforms and business models.
  • Comfortable providing clear and succinct guidance and analysis to Epic senior leadership on key issues, laws and regulations affecting Epic’s products and services.
  • Anticipate and support the continuous improvement and review of Epic's terms, templates, legal processes and policies, to allow Epic’s business and production teams to scale and operate efficiently.
  • Monitor and remain current on relevant industry standards, laws and the regulatory landscape, including regulatory enforcement actions, to identify trends that may affect Epic and the video game industry.
What we're looking for
  • J.D. and at least 5 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years of experience working as in-house product counsel at a video game, technology or entertainment company.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on a broad range of subject matters, including success in leading large-scale cross-functional projects.
  • Prior work experience and/or working knowledge of the video game industry
  • Substantial knowledge of international consumer protection, intellectual property, competition, marketing, and commercial laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborative by nature, successful at building trusting partnerships across diverse teams.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to find creative and practical solutions, especially in situations where there may be ambiguity or a lack of legal precedent.
  • Good listener with excellent verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, strong analytical skills, practical with a sense of humor.
