Department Overview:

Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Corporate Finance & Advisory, and the Financial Sponsors Group to identify, pitch and convert event‑driven hedging and financing opportunities
  • Support Sector Bankers on DCM and Project Finance‑related hedging solutions
  • Build strong working relationships with the Financial Markets Corporate Sales desk and actively contribute to the development of junior team members
  • Coordinate effectively with internal Financial Markets stakeholders, including Trading, Balance Sheet Management, Legal, Credit Risk, and Market Risk, to deliver client solutions
  • External Client Engagement
  • Develop and maintain meaningful business relationships with corporate clients and financial sponsors
  • Drive growth by proactively pitching and positioning ING Financial Markets solutions to clients
  • Actively support clients through their investment, disinvestment and financing cycles, aligning hedging and markets solutions to client needs

Governance & Business Management

  • Maximise the distribution of ING’s Financial Markets product offering in line with client requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with all FCA requirements, industry conduct standards and ING compliance policies
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and ad‑hoc projects aligned with desk and wider Financial Markets priorities

Candidate Profile

Qualifications / Education

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification

Desirable:

  • Professional finance qualification (e.g. CFA Charterholder or progress toward a recognised finance designation)

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in event‑driven hedging, including interest rate and inflation risk, foreign exchange and equity risk, in the context of corporate and project finance‑related transactions
  • Experience working alongside Debt Capital Markets (DCM) and Corporate Finance / Advisory teams on structured or event‑driven transactions
  • Strong understanding of pre‑hedging techniques, including deal‑contingent and bond hedging, with experience explaining and positioning these solutions to clients and internal stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with corporate clients and financial sponsors, or the ability to do so effectively within the role
