Senior Control Systems Engineer - EUR

Location: Remote in Europe | Project Site Based or Remote w/Travel (as applicable)
Employment Status: Full Time | Direct Hire
Travel: Up to 20% (as needed per project requirements)
On Call: Per project requirements

The Opportunity
The Senior Control Systems Engineer works across a variety of control system projects and is responsible for leading project tasks or full project execution. This role combines advanced technical expertise with project ownership, supporting both independent work and collaboration across teams.

This individual is accountable for delivering high-quality engineering solutions, supporting customers, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

What You’ll Do

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record with at least 3+ years as a Control Systems Project Engineer II or equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and mentor team members during system startup and commissioning
  • Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and field conditions, providing feedback as needed
  • Develop and implement complex PLC and SCADA/HMI applications
  • Provide instrumentation specifications for complex control systems
  • Value engineer solutions to ensure cost-effective design and execution
  • Lead design of IT systems, network infrastructure, and control system integration
  • Support and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) standards
  • Develop migration strategies for legacy control systems
  • Author and review complex technical design documentation

Project Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and within budget
  • Lead project tasks or full project execution from start to finish
  • Serve as the primary customer contact on assigned projects
  • Identify and manage scope changes and project risks
  • Support other projects as needed across the organization
  • Manage and delegate tasks to ensure efficient project execution
  • Accurately estimate task duration and complexity
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure alignment to budget and timelines
  • Identify opportunities for additional work with customers and contractors

Customer and Contractor Interaction

  • Communicate effectively, proactively, and professionally with customers
  • Follow all customer-specific standards and procedures
  • Provide responsive support and solutions to customer challenges
  • Maintain strong follow-through and accountability
  • Anticipate customer needs and recommend improvements

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and oversight to junior staff on project sites as applicable
  • Support development of team members through mentorship and guidance

Work Authorization / Other Requirements

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required
