Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Have you ever wondered how we assess and decide how we account for content in our financial statements? Are you interested in and looking to contribute to automated workflows for Accounting? Do you enjoy reviewing and analysing large amounts of data that are used in critical business decisions? If yes, we invite you to join colleagues across the globe who share a passion for building expertise in streamed content accounting.

This role provides an opportunity to join a team that is committed to transforming and redefining the perception of what entertainment is and how it can be enjoyed through the Netflix service. With continued investment in a slate of content, including original productions, content licensing, and international expansion, it’s a meaningful time to join Netflix.

This role is based in our London office and reports to the Content Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the financial integrity of the company’s content commitments, assets (capitalisation), liabilities (payments), and expenses (amortisation).

  • Prepare and review monthly accounting entries, reconciliations, CFO metrics, and other ad hoc analyses.

  • Manage and account (in proprietary systems) for content license contracts and understand the full cost of each produced show, with a focus on ensuring appropriate accounting by researching relevant guidance.

  • Analyse content agreements and transactions (e.g., licensing contracts, talent deals) to interpret contractual terms and apply our accounting policies appropriately.

  • Identify and drive process improvements by constructively challenging existing workflows to gain efficiency and standardisation across the team.

  • Communicate proactively and clearly to support alignment and consistency across the wider Content Accounting team.

  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with teams outside of Content Accounting, including those across finance and content acquisition organisations.

  • As Netflix continues its content expansion, the accounting and operational complexities are also growing. There are new challenges we’re facing and plenty of opportunities to learn and have impact. Come be a part of it.

Qualities We’re Looking For
Must-Haves

  • Strong accounting fundamentals, including 5 or more years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

  • A solid technical accounting foundation and comfort navigating accounting guidance independently.

  • High attention to detail and an interest in working with data. You take care in producing high-quality work, reviewing numbers and formulas for accuracy, and using spreadsheets and system data to reconcile accounts and solve problems. You are comfortable working with large data sets and using tools such as pivot tables.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken, and the ability to build trusted cross-functional partnerships. You can explain accounting concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across teams.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset. You ask thoughtful questions, appropriately challenge existing approaches, and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes.

  • Adaptability and comfort operating in an evolving environment across content, finance, and accounting priorities. You work effectively with a range of perspectives and working styles and contribute to a positive team culture.

  • Alignment with and advocacy for the Netflix culture, operating with a long-term mindset.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Actively studying toward or having completed a professional accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or Chartered Accountant status.

  • Experience working with US GAAP and applying it in practice.

  • Experience reviewing contracts (e.g., revenue, leases, or other complex agreements), supporting system implementations or process improvements, and conducting research-heavy accounting analysis.

  • Prior exposure to content accounting is helpful but not required, as we value enthusiasm and the ability to learn.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
