Overview
We are seeking a Senior Consultant - Reinsurance Business Data Analyst for a role focused on helping clients better understand, structure, and use their data to support data driven decision-making.

The role combines strong reinsurance domain knowledge with data analysis and business analysis skills. You will work closely with client stakeholders across multiple domains, including but not limited to finance, underwriting, claims, etc. to analyse data structures, clarify business definitions, identify gaps, and translate complex domain concepts into clear, scalable data-driven solutions such as data products and analytical datasets.

This is not a pure technical or engineering role. It requires confident stakeholder engagement, structured problem-solving, and the ability to bridge business needs with data and technology teams in a consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • You will act as a business-facing data analyst, working with client stakeholders to understand business questions, data needs, and decision-making requirements, and translating these into clear data and analytical requirements.
  • Analyse existing data structures, definitions, and flows to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities across data domains.
  • Support the design and evolution of data-driven solutions (e.g. data products, curated datasets, analytical views) by contributing domain expertise, business logic, and clear definitions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and technology teams to ensure business requirements are accurately reflected in implemented data solutions.
  • Perform data analysis and validation using SQL/Python to investigate issues, test assumptions, and support solution design
  • Support impact analysis and change discussions when data structures, definitions, or logic evolve, ensuring business implications are clearly understood.
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders through clear communication, structured workshops, and pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of reinsurance data across core areas such as policies, risks, premiums, claims, exposures, transactions, and reinsurance arrangements.

Job requirements
  • Proven experience in a London Market / UK Insurance / Reinsurance / Insurtech or consultancy firm with exposure to Insurance / Reinsurance clients. While there is no fixed minimum threshold of experience required working in these sectors, candidates for these roles would typically have had exposure to these sectors (or equivalent relevant experience) for at least three years.
  • Experience working with reinsurance data.
  • Prior involvement in data, analytics, or data transformation initiatives within reinsurance organizations.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance concepts and processes, with the ability to apply this knowledge in data and analytical contexts.
  • Proven experience working as a business data analyst, or similar role within reinsurance environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data analysis, investigation, and validation.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems and translate complex business topics into clear, actionable data requirements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence to engage both business and technical audiences.
  • Consulting mindset with a focus on delivering practical, high-quality outcomes in client environments.
  • Advanced communication, presentation and facilitation skills help you in effective communication with stakeholders at various levels across organisations.
  • Understanding of key data & AI platforms and solutions used in the (Re)insurance sector and ability to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree (MBA, MSc, MA) and/or equivalent experience.  Additional qualifications being a plus.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, insurance-related certifications) are beneficial but not essential.
