Role description:

To support a growing area of our business, Arcadis is looking for a Senior Consultant to join the Intelligent Buildings team, supporting the delivery of smart building consultancy services across strategy, design, construction, and operational phases.

As a Senior Consultant in our Intelligent Buildings team, you will lead client-facing strategy development and programme delivery for smart building projects. Your role will combine strategic consultancy, commercial rigour and practical programme management to help clients define their smart building vision, establish investment cases, prioritise use cases and put in place the governance and delivery frameworks needed to turn the Intelligent Buildings strategy into functioning systems that create business value.

You will act as a trusted advisor to our clients, translating their business needs into prioritised intelligent buildings use cases that align technology, people and processes to deliver tangible value. You will be technically literate with a passion for Smart Building technologies, able to bring together technical specialists, procurement and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable and outcomes-focused Intelligent Building solutions.

Role accountabilities:

Lead strategy development for clients’ Intelligent Building ambitions, including stakeholder mapping, maturity assessments, target operating models and implementation roadmaps.

· Develop robust business cases and investment appraisals that quantify benefits (operational efficiency, occupant experience, carbon and energy reduction, revenue opportunities) and inform prioritisation of interventions.

· Define personas, user journeys and prioritised use cases that link building data and technologies to tangible user and operational outcomes.

· Design and implement governance, commercial and delivery frameworks (steering groups, change controls, scope management, procurement routes) to de-risk delivery and enable predictable outcomes.

· Act as Project Manager for multi-disciplinary Intelligent Building projects, coordinating with architects, MEP, IT/OT, cybersecurity, vendors and contractors to meet scope, budget and programme requirements.

· Translate complex technical inputs into commercial and operational implications for non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrating strong communication skills and ensuring clear decision-making points and acceptance criteria.

· Advise clients on relevant smart building accreditations and support the achievement of these to the desired level such as SmartScore, WiredScore or NABERS

· Support procurement and vendor selection by developing evaluation criteria, facilitating commercial negotiations and assessing supplier delivery capability against strategic objectives.

· Support business development and sales activities: prepare proposals, present strategic approaches to clients, and help convert opportunities into projects.

· Champion Intelligent Buildings within internal stakeholders and Account Leaders to support knowledge share, create opportunities for cross-selling and best practice.

· Play an active role in the Arcadis Intelligent Buildings Community of Practice and development of Thought Leadership Material

· Mentor and develop junior team members, building capability in strategic advisory, programme management and stakeholder engagement.

· Maintain awareness of market trends, relevant standards, certification schemes and emerging technologies to inform client strategy and ensure Arcadis’ proposition remains competitive.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably membership of an appropriate professional body such as RICS, APM, IMechE, IET, ICE, CIBSE)
  • Demonstrable experience in programme or project management on digital or smart building initiatives, preferably across strategy, business case development and delivery phases.
  • Proven track record developing business cases, prioritised use cases and roadmaps for digital/IoT enabled building solutions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with procurement, supplier evaluation and contract structures for technology delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior client sponsors and running governance forums.
  • Familiarity with Intelligent Building technologies and architecture (BMS, EMS, BOS, IoT platforms, analytics, OT/IT convergence) sufficient to interrogate technical proposals and align them to strategic objectives.
  • Experience of delivering change programmes, including user adoption and benefits realisation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; adept at simplifying complex topics for executive audiences.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP) or experience of Agile delivery frameworks is advantageous.
  • Experience in relative accreditations i.e. SmartScore, WiredScore, WELL, LEED, NABERS
