The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

What you'll do

Schroders has launched a three-year transformation roadmap focused on returning to profitable growth through three strategic objectives: Simplify, Scale and Deliver. The programme is reshaping the firm’s operating model across Public Markets, Private Assets and Wealth Management.

As a Senior Consultant in BTS, you will:

  • Lead or support large, complex consulting projects, or take ownership of smaller workstreams and deliverables.
  • Support transformation assignments across investment management, personal wealth and private equity, with increasing levels of autonomy.
  • Independently manage the scope, timelines and quality of project deliverables.
  • Design and lead analysis, research and problem-solving activities to develop insights and recommendations.
  • Develop business cases, impact assessments, transformation roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Support business model and high-level operating model design.
  • Facilitate workshops and help senior stakeholders define and shape strategic initiatives.
  • Move flexibly between strategic design and hands-on delivery support, including delivery triage where required.
  • Use AI tools to increase the pace, depth and quality of consulting output, keeping up to date with relevant tooling and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Help shape and embed AI-enabled consulting approaches by identifying high-value use cases, redesigning ways of working and translating emerging AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
  • Manage stakeholder interactions for assigned deliverables, building trusted and respectful relationships across the business.
  • Champion the client perspective and apply outside-in thinking to strengthen recommendations and solutions.
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance to junior colleagues, as appropriate.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, knowledge-sharing initiatives and the development of BTS methodologies, service models and solutions.

BTS project work may include:

  • Corporate Development: Integration planning, post-merger transformation, due diligence, synergy assessments and operating model design for acquired businesses.
  • Public Markets: Target operating model frameworks, foundational design documents, implementation roadmaps, governance materials and business cases.
  • Private Assets: AIFM simplification, functionalisation of acquired entities, office closure business cases and delivery approaches.
  • Wealth Management: Operational migrations, shared services and technology enablement, client onboarding, digital reporting and wealth platform transformation roadmaps.
  • AI Transformation: AI strategies and roadmaps, prioritisation of enterprise AI opportunities, process and operating model redesign, governance, workforce and adoption approaches, and benefits realisation.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Five to seven years’ experience in a consultancy role or as a high-performing analyst, preferably within investment management, personal wealth or private equity.
  • A proven track record of delivering or leading significant project workstreams in a consulting environment.
  • Experience of large-scale transformation programmes would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience in business case development, structured impact assessment and translating analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • A strong understanding of the investment management value chain, including front, middle and back-office functions.
  • Experience across a breadth of investment products and client operating models would be beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • A bachelor’s degree with a 2:1 classification or above.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that’ll help

Experience in AI-enabled consulting or AI transformation is desirable but not essential. Relevant experience may include:

  • Applying generative AI or other AI capabilities to real consulting or business problems beyond basic personal productivity use, with evidence of improving speed, quality, depth, client experience or economics.
  • Identifying and prioritising AI opportunities and translating them into pragmatic strategies, roadmaps, business cases and measurable outcomes.
  • Redesigning processes, roles, controls and operating models, including workforce, adoption and change implications.
  • Developing reusable methods, prompts, playbooks, quality controls or training, and coaching colleagues in the effective and responsible use of AI.
  • Working credibly across business, technology, data, risk and people teams.
  • Understanding the practical strengths, limitations, data dependencies, evaluation requirements and human-oversight considerations associated with generative AI, large language models and AI agents.
  • Experience in financial services, investment management or another regulated, knowledge-intensive industry.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members.
  • Experience contributing to thought leadership, intellectual capital or knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, CIMA or IMC.

What you’ll be like

  • A proactive self-starter who can manage their workload independently and maximise their impact.
  • A strategic and analytical thinker who can navigate complex and ambiguous problems.
  • A strong communicator who can build relationships and present to senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility.
  • A collaborative team player who values integrity, accountability and excellence.
  • Passionate about innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Curious, hands-on and outcome-led, with an interest in exploring new methods and tools to evolve how we work.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Empathetic, with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable working across business, technology, data, risk and people considerations.
  • Committed to sharing knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues.
