What the role involves 

Are you a strategic storyteller who knows how to grab the attention of a busy workforce?

Working closely with the Director of Communications, you will provide high-level support to our senior teams, ensuring our strategic priorities are translated into a compelling, consistent narrative that inspires our 3,000+ employees. 

While your primary focus is internal communications, you will also play a vital role in our external communications, ensuring a seamless reputation across all channels.

  • Strategic Leadership: Devising and executing a robust internal communications strategy that aligns with Reach’s commercial goals and people priorities.

  • Strategic Advisory: Acting as a trusted advisor to the business on communication issues that influence company reputation and the overall employee experience.

  • Integrated Communications: Collaborating with Investor Relations and People Experience teams to ensure a unified voice for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Content & Innovation: Overseeing the internal communications calendar and leveraging modern tools including video, livestreaming, and AI to deliver high-impact storytelling.

  • External Representation: Supporting the Director of Communications by contributing to the press office rota, drafting financial results and reporting content, and building on the company’s presence on LinkedIn with compelling content.

  • Adaptive Expertise: Working flexibly and intuitively to lend expertise in line with changing business needs, ensuring the communications function remains agile in an evolving media landscape.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be a seasoned communications professional with a track record of influencing at the C-suite level. You should possess:

  • Exceptional Internal Communication Skills: Experience in a senior internal communications role, with proven success in developing and executing impactful internal communications strategies and plansThe ability to distill complex business concepts into simple, persuasive, and engaging content for a diverse audience. 

  • Strategic Agility: A proven ability to balance long-term strategic planning with a "hands-on" approach to delivery in a fast-paced environment.

  • Stakeholder Management: Confidence in building relationships and gaining buy-in from senior leaders, acting as a trusted advisor on sensitive issues.

  • Digital Proficiency: Expertise in using digital platforms and emerging technologies (including AI) to enhance communication reach and monitor impact.

  • External Understanding : Some experience in external communications or PR, particularly experience with media relations and responding to press office queries.
