We are now excited to invite applications for the role of Senior Communications Manager with our awesome team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. 

 

The role: 

As the Senior Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, protecting, and amplifying dentsu’s reputation across Australia and New Zealand internally and externally. 

This is a hands-on role where you’ll combine strategic thinking with timely execution. You’ll be a comms generalist who has the ability to look at the whole comms picture. You are a natural storyteller with a proactive, hunter mindset – someone who can find and create the news and identify creative ways to build the brand and showcase dentsu’s people and work. You are collaborative, great at building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and can look at things strategically whilst also rolling up your sleeves.  

 

Core responsibilities: 

 

Strategy & Brand Narrative 

  • Support the development and execution of dentsu ANZ’s communications strategy across external, corporate and internal channels, ensuring consistent alignment across media, leadership communications and employee engagement. 

  • Craft compelling narratives that position 

  • Proactively hunt and identify opportunities to position dentsu’s leaders and as thought leaders through storytelling, speaking engagements and partnerships. 

  • Ensure brand voice, tone and messaging are consistent across all channels, aligned with dentsu’s global positioning and purpose. 

PR & External Comms 

  • Oversee the execution of all external communications activity and identifying the right stories for the right channels. This will include managing a proactive and reactive press office, developing bold content (op eds, videos, podcasts, events) that builds the brand and spotlights dentsu’s innovation, client impact and leadership.  

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with press, including trade journalist, key industry publications and identifying new outlets to tell the dentsu story. 

  • Identify key speaking opportunities for dentsu’s spokespeople 

Corporate Communications 

  • Support executive communications including message development, profiling opportunities and spokesperson briefing packs. 

  • Protect the reputation of the brand and business through timely response to issues, ensuring communications are considered for all stakeholder groups (employees, clients, partners, press).  

  • Manage the creation and publication of corporate content for dentsu’s owned channels. 

  • Partner with regional and global communications teams to localise global initiatives for the ANZ market. 

Employee Communications 

  • Plan and deliver high-impact employee campaigns that drive employee engagement and reinforce dentsu’s culture and values. 

  • Support the executive team with BAU employee communications 

  • Amplify employee brand advocacy through engaging storytelling. 

A bit about you: 

  • 8+ years’ experience in communications, PR, or corporate affairs (ideally in marketing/media/agency environments). 

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills for internal and external audiences. 

  • Proven ability to manage media relations, issues management, and stakeholder communications. 

  • Skilled in digital tools and platforms (e.g., Streem/Meltwater, Sprinklr, Microsoft 365, Canva, LinkedIn). 

  • Demonstrated use and interest of emerging technologies. 

  • Confident working with senior leaders and navigating complex multinational and matrix structures. 

  • Agile & collaborative: comfortable working with a small but dynamic team. 

  • Proactive & hungry: driven to uncover stories that create impact. 

  • Friendly & professional: builds trust and strong relationships internally and externally.
