Our Communications team creates and manages our narrative. Working closely with senior stakeholders, they deploy our stories strategically through press, online media and internal comms to build our reputation. Our high-profile reputation helps grow our business by indirectly selling our technology and positions Dyson as a great place to work.

About the role

The Senior Communications Manager for Floorcare will lead the global narrative for Dyson’s iconic, industry-leading cleaning products—the foundation of the company’s success. This role requires strong collaboration, insight-sharing, and influence across international markets.

You will develop integrated communications plans that align with business objectives and position Dyson as a leader in engineering and innovation, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Working closely with global markets, Floorcare Business Unit leaders, and the in-house Creative Agency, you will deliver launch, sustain, and drumbeat campaigns, shaping global messaging and creative direction.

With deep expertise in media, social, and influencer landscapes, you will build strong stakeholder relationships and identify compelling stories that resonate with global audiences.

Responsibilities

You will lead Communications activities end-to-end, from strategic planning to execution of campaigns with a focus on driving earned press and influencer coverage to 1) support commercial priorities and 2) drive storytelling/thought leadership narratives.

Leadership:

  • A strong contributor to the Global Communications team demonstrating leadership in the ‘how’ and ‘what’ we communicate, playing a proactive role in evolving our approach and developing our people.

  • Be an engaged leader in the product communications team. Show involvement across all departments to maximise integration of communications in the wider business in all markets.

  • Demonstrate high business acumen and understanding of Dyson. Provide strategic communications advice to the Directors of the Business Units and the Leadership teams of the Marketing and Communications functions.

  • Manage budgets to ensure efficiencies across our global work and secure the tools and resources to carry out local and global launch events.

  • Drive a comprehensive program to advance Dyson’s mission and goals across product and internal communications. Launching products often involving project management of events, sustaining launch momentum, press office, thought leadership and Global Commercial team engagement.

  • Contribute to the wider Communications community by regularly expanding your remit to regional and local projects (for major markets).

  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage people up, down, and across the organization in order to bring about change.

  • Plan and implement the Communications strategy for Dyson Floorcare with a focus on maximising exposure and impact on the consumer benefits of Dyson products underpinned with our problem-solving approach, our creative campaign approach, our products, people and places, and the Dyson philosophy

  • Maximize each narrative to build Dyson’s reputation and desirability as a global technology company with products that deliver advanced performance and long-term value.

  • Motivate and manage the regional and market teams to grow share of voice across the world, allowing us to compete effectively with our key rivals in the Floorcare space.

  • Develop and foster a deep understanding of the Dyson difference, while driving impact in tangible ways to contribute to business growth.

Communication skills:

  • Devise and implement excellent external and internal Communications strategies focused on telling stories around our core technology, our machines, our innovation and the Dyson philosophy.

  • Show in-depth knowledge and experience of the Global media, social media and influencer landscape, and demonstrate the ability to tailor our campaigns based on that knowledge.

  • Drive the continuation and development of new formats and platforms in interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Be it online, in the LLMs, on social media channels, as well as in traditional media and events.

  • Oversee in-depth real-time monitoring, analysis reporting, and response to press coverage and social media interactions on a timely basis and across a wide spectrum of media; providing updates to the business on a regular basis and using AI platforms to optimise our analysis.

  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities facing the organization and design strategies to manage their impact including crisis management.

About You

  • Fluent in English. Another language is a plus.

  • Operate independently with strong accountability for results, balancing strategic planning with tactical implementation.

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a role focused on communications – either in-house, agency side as part of a fast-paced, agile and change driven industry.

  • Analytical skills and ability to distil information with a focus on quality and detail, rather than quantity.

  • Ability to build and effect change - at both a people and process level.

  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in building relationships with top tier internal stakeholders, and in successfully creating global campaigns to achieve commercial success.

  • Superior management skills, particularly when project managing events; proven ability to influence and engage people up, down, and across the organization in order to bring about change.
