Hours: 37.5 per week, worked flexibly around 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: Dependant on experience

Role Overview

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for leading the commercial strategy, governance, and financial performance of the Facilities Management business. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the role provides commercial leadership across all areas of the organisation, ensuring that commercial decisions support sustainable growth, profitability, operational excellence, and exceptional customer outcomes.

The Senior Commercial Manager will lead and develop the commercial function, providing expert guidance on contracts, procurement, financial controls, risk management, and business planning. They will play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering opportunities for business growth, value creation, and continuous improvement, while ensuring robust governance and compliance across all commercial activities.

Working collaboratively with operational and support teams, the role is accountable for maximising commercial performance, protecting the business's contractual and financial position, and embedding a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic commercial leadership, contributing to senior leadership and board discussions, and supporting delivery of business objectives.
  • Lead and develop the commercial team, ensuring high performance and providing expert commercial advice across the business.
  • Drive business growth through commercial input into bids, pricing strategies, contract mobilisation and customer opportunities.
  • Take overall responsibility for commercial performance, identifying and managing risks, opportunities, profitability and margin improvement.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and commercial reporting to support business performance and decision-making.
  • Ensure robust commercial governance, financial controls and compliance with delegated authorities, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead contract performance management, including KPI delivery, change control, dispute resolution and protection of the company's commercial position.
  • Build and manage effective supplier and subcontractor relationships, developing procurement strategies that deliver value, resilience and compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement, driving efficiencies, system enhancements and innovative approaches across the commercial function and wider business.
  • Support key client relationships, providing senior commercial leadership in contract reviews, value discussions and future growth opportunities.

Requirements

Essential

  • Senior commercial leadership experience
  • Strong financial and performance and management capability
  • Procurement and supply chain management experience
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
  • Experience in managing purchase and sales invoicing, and cash collection
  • Previous experience in team leadership and people management
  • Full Driving License, valid in the UK
  • Be computer literate (Microsoft Office including Excel and Word)
  • Innovative, proactive, agile, and flexible

Desirable

  • Facilities Management experience
  • Working knowledge of PFI and LIFT programmes
  • Good understanding of contractual obligations and T&Cs
