Role overview


Given our exciting growth plans, we are looking for an exceptional Senior Finance Analyst to partner with our finance teams, especially our VPs of Accounting and Finance Strategy, to drive our financial strategy, scenario modelling, audit and accounting processes using our data platform.


Your expertise will guide us in growing our revenue, making us more profitable, keeping us compliant, raising capital and identifying commercial opportunities across the business, and doing so with the efficiency and automation of modern data tools.


Reporting into our Lead Commercial Analyst, this role is perfect for someone who wants to make an impact, working on different projects and learning in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Forecasting: modelling different scenarios for budgeting, target setting, long range planning, pricing and proposition changes and other changes to our business model will be key for this role. We’re open to a range of tools - not just spreadsheets - such as notebooks, python libraries, ML models, so long as you can accurately predict the impact of different courses of action
  • Accounting: successful candidates don’t have be to qualified accountants, but since you’ll be working closely with finance professionals a high level of fluency in accounting principles, P&Ls, balance sheets, cash flow, revenue recognition etc, and being able to translate this into data models and queries, is essential
  • Collaboration: partnering with finance, marketing, engineering and commercial teams is key to having impact. In this role you’ll be expected to engage with a range of stakeholders, embed your analysis in their day to day decision making, and influence their thinking by empathising with their different objectives and perspectives
  • Automation and modelling: you’ll need to have experience automating reports and metrics so that people have access to the data they need when they need it without your intervention, and powering regular processes such as month end and audits with data workflows
  • Tooling and config: we need people who can dive into different tools and set things up for themselves to get the insights we need. In this role you’ll need access to different accounting tools and payment platforms, along with internal ledgers 
  • Flexibility: by being plugged into finance teams, you’ll make sure our data model and logic stays in sync with our accounts, working with the rest of the team to respond to changes. You’ll be expected to work on a range of different initiatives and projects and respond to the needs of the team
  • Learning: we encourage and expect team members to constantly develop their data practice and learn new skills, approaching their work with a growth mindset, knowing that it’s impossible to know everything but always having curiosity

Experience & qualifications required:

  • Extensive experience in financial modelling and scenario planning
  • A high level of fluency in accounting principles and start up funding cycles
  • Advanced data analysis skills using SQL is a must, along with programming language(s) for forecasting (python, R, excel)
  • Experience with visualisation packages such as ploty to create high quality charts for publication
  • Proven ability to work with a variety of data sources and wrangle them into useful assets for finance and growth teams
  • Use of BI / visualisation tools to create data assets
  • Knowledge of data modelling practices and pipeline development
  • Experience condensing complex analysis into simple and persuasive presentations and ability to influence decision making at different levels

Bonus points:

  • Has worked in finance or qualified as an accountant 
  • Experience using Snowflake, dbt, periscope and notebooks
  • Experience working in fast-paced scale ups
