About the role and what you will be doing:

This is an exciting opportunity to join small, friendly, Agile-based, team working on some of the hottest public cloud technologies.  

The Public Cloud Product Engineering team works closely with our Product Management team to bring to life standard services and solutions that can be repeatedly sold to multiple managed service customers.  

Using your strong background in automationengineering, and best practice you will also play a major role in defining and evolving our public cloud standards, implementing new tools, onboarding new AWS and GCP services, and act as an SME supporting other teams. 

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate a genuine desire and passion for public cloudautomation; keeping it simplesupportable, and scalable; with proven ability to deliver pragmatic workable solutions on time. 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead engineer on Product Engineering epics and stories.
  • Develop (“operationalize”) new repeatable Ensono public cloud services and solutions.
  • Define and evolve public cloud technical standards to ensure repeatability, supportability, scalability, and security.
  • Make recommendations on technical stack including research, assessments, bake-offs, and proof of concepts.
  • Assess and onboard new AWS and GCP services in line with the Product roadmap.
  • Drive the deployment of automated infrastructure and systems using IACconfig management and scripting.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice to pre-sales architects on our technical standards.
  • Act as a final line of escalation and assistance for the cloud operations team for major problems.
  • Proactively keep up to date on public cloud services and related technology. 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in supporting highly customer-focused mission critical environments (e.g., high profile web or enterprise infrastructure) essential.
  • 5+ years’ experience of architecting, engineering, or supporting public cloud solutions on AWS or GCP.
  • Sound knowledge of AWS or GCP best practice, security considerations, and architectural design patterns.
  • Experience of implementing and supporting public-cloud based workloads and services.
  • Hold multiple current AWS or Google Cloud Certifications (or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge).
  • Experience of building solutions using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Cloud formation) 
  • Experience of config management systems (e.g., Ansible).
  • Excellent Linux O/S knowledge and experience (RHCE or equivalent level of knowledge).
  • Scripting ability in Python, Perl, or Bash.
  • Experience of using Git for version control.
  • Experience of the AWS or GCP CLI and scripting against it.
  • Experience of working with, designing, deploying, or supporting containerized environments (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes/Docker) is useful, but not essential.
  • Experience of Jenkins or other CI/CD pipeline technology useful.
  • Able to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality (e.g. Copilot/Claude/Kiro)
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • A degree in a computing-related discipline preferred or equivalent ability and knowledge.
  • Experience working in ITIL and Agile environments beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to share knowledge via clear and concise documentation, and demos/presentations.
  • Able to implement supportable solutions and make the complex simple.
  • Able to work in an organized and efficient manner without close supervision  
  • Must be self-motivated, a self-starter and possess a good working attitude.
  • Desire to continually grow, develop and improve.
  • Able to perform as a role model within the team.
