Location: Sonning, UK

At Johnson Matthey, we’re accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable world. As a Senior Buyer focused on indirect services, you’ll lead the sourcing of critical internal service categories—ranging from consultancy and HR to facilities, marketing, and industrial services. Your work will ensure we deliver value, manage risk, and drive innovation across the business.

This is a fully on-site role based at our Sonning Common, Reading location. It’s ideally suited to someone with experience in professional services and industrial services environments, and a strong track record in internal stakeholder-facing procurement of services (not direct supply chain).

The role:
As a Senior Buyer, you will help drive our goals by:
  • Lead procurement across a variety of indirect service categories, focusing on value, compliance, and supplier performance.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders across functions to understand needs and develop tailored sourcing strategies.

  • Negotiate and manage complex service contracts, ensuring strong commercial terms and risk mitigation.

  • Analyze spend data and supplier trends to identify savings opportunities and process improvements.

  • Use tools like Coupa to manage sourcing workflows and procurement analytics.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in procurement with a focus on indirect services—e.g., consultancy, HR, marketing, facilities, and industrial goods/services.

  • Background in Professional Services and Industrial Services, ideally within a global corporate environment.

  • Strong communication, commercial, and contract negotiation skills.

  • Confident working closely with internal stakeholders to understand and deliver business requirements.

  • Experience working on-site and collaborating across functions such as finance, legal, and operations.

What we offer:

We make sure salaries are fair, competitive and aligned to individual roles, experience and responsibilities. We are also supportive of hybrid and flexible working and where applicable, offer life, medical and other benefits that support our employees’ financial and physical wellbeing, such as:
•    Retirement savings
•    Share plans
•    Saving accounts
•    House saving funds
•    Life and disability insurance
•    Commuter allowances and loans
•    Medical plans / health assessments
•    Fitness discounts
