About us:

At Gridcog, we are on an environmental mission. A mission to accelerate investment in the clean energy transition. We are energy natives who embrace the complex future of energy by providing holistic software solutions to plan, track, and optimise clean energy projects.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking to expand our footprint in the UK and Europe, and we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic business development professional to help accelerate our growth. You will bring high-performance business development experience to our London-based team.

Our software helps energy transition leaders direct investment into energy projects that make commercial and environmental sense. Our clients include Large Energy Users, Suppliers, Project Developers and Fleets Solutions providers. Throughout our sales process we engage with people of varying seniority from Junior Analyst through to C-Suite/Partner.

You will be able to quickly build rapport with our clients and prospects, empathise with their challenges (modelling complex energy projects) and demonstrate how Gridcog’s software solution will help. Your role will be to deliver commercial growth for Gridcog, delivering on a pre-agreed quarterly sales target.

You’ll also have a passion for the Gridcog mission, be happy to work at pace in a fast growing startup and enjoy collaborating with your colleagues globally. If this sounds like you, please read on!

What you’ll do as part of our team:

  • Be responsible for winning new customer accounts in line with agreed company and individual targets. This includes managing and qualifying a pipeline of opportunities, targeting specific client accounts, managing client demo processes and converting opportunities to pilots and then onto ongoing subscriptions.
  • Define and execute account and territory plans to ensure that you meet and exceed sales quotas through prospecting, qualification, management and closing of sales opportunities.
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline through a combination of marketing-generated, partner-generated and self-generated opportunities.
  • Become an expert in the Gridcog software and lead client demos including addressing technical client queries about the capabilities of our software.
  • Share customer/market insights with the wider Gridcog team.
  • Build your personal brand in the GB and European energy industry by attending events and supporting Gridcog marketing activity.
  • Manage customer contracting processes including ‘supplier onboarding’ for new customer contracts.
  • Contribute to and maintain disciplined go-to-market commercial processes including improving our go-to-market playbook, updating our CRM and improving our sales collateral.
  • Support developing and executing account development plans for our large clients.
  • Act as part of a team, supporting your colleagues globally in pursuit of company-wide goals.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Comprehensive experience in a business development role in the GB or European energy industry, ideally in B2B software or technology sales.
  • Demonstrable success in both hitting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Ambition, energy and commercial drive. You will be comfortable in ambiguity and willing to get stuck in, Gridcog is a dynamic startup environment.
  • Some technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: renewable energy, battery storage, microgrids, wholesale energy markets or e-mobility projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a strong sense of customer empathy; you build strong and enduring relationships with your clients.
  • A willingness to become an expert in the Gridcog software and handle technical client queries autonomously.

We’d also love it if you have:

  • Demonstrated success in a B2B SaaS business, closing software contracts with six figure ARR values.
  • Experience using different sales methodologies (MEDDIC, Challenger, SPIN etc).
  • Experience in a fast growing startup.
  • A strong personal brand in the GB energy industry.
  • Fluency in a second European language.

Benefits:

  • Competitive remuneration package aligned with experience and skills.
  • Opportunity to work as part of our social London based team with flexible working arrangements.
  • Be part of a high-performing team that values innovation and creative problem-solving.
  • Contribute to the decarbonisation of the world's energy system.
  • Support for ongoing professional and personal development.
  • An annual all company retreat, last year we went to Bali and this year to Bintan Island.

Diversity and Inclusion:

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team at Gridcog. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, as we believe an inclusive environment and diversity of perspective leads to innovation and success.
