The Investment and Operations Change and Technology team provides strategic change and technology solutions to the investment teams, supporting investment performance, enhancing client outcomes, and improving operational efficiency. The change demand ranges from incremental business-as-usual changes, through to large-scale transformation initiatives.   

This role primarily focuses on the Public Markets change portfolio. Initiatives can range from establishing new revenue streams, analysing and defining new operating models, optimising supplier services, or developing new technology or data solutions.  

As Senior Business Analyst, the role holder will partner with the Public Markets Programme Manager. They will be accountable for the quality of analysis artefacts required to deliver the outcomes committed across the programme, whilst actively coaching junior team members on business analysis best practices and developing deeper domain expertise. The role holder will work directly with stakeholders across the Investment and Operations teams to elicit requirements, shape solutions, and propose recommendations that consider internal requirements and market best practices. 

As a senior member of the business analysis community, the role holder will also contribute to the business analysis community of practice, playing an active role in continuously improving the business analysis capability across all Asset Management portfolios.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership to the business analysts within the Public Markets change portfolio, managing work allocation, ensuring quality, and handling escalations. 

  • Support the development of business cases and target operating models for projects/programmes.  

  • Assist the Project/Programme Manager with benefits definition and realisation management. 

  • Use analytical skills to produce operational requirements (epics, user stories, BRD’s), using techniques like workshops, process documentation, prototyping and data analysis.  

  • Critically evaluate and reconcile information from multiple sources, translating high level-details into actionable insights.  

  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external parties to analyse needs, requirements, capabilities and feasibility.  

  • Be a self-starter who can work independently and with the business to define concepts, under direction of the project/programme manager. 

  • Validate solutions against project/programme objectives and expectations, maintaining a requirements traceability log.  

  • Challenge project team assumptions to ensure successful execution. 

  • Collaborate with implementation teams and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs. 

  • Align test planning with the project manager  

  • Lead operational and business readiness with product and business teams.  

  • Prepare training documentation and change management plans.  

 

Key Skills & Competencies:  

  • Ability to engage business and technology stakeholders, including C-suite and executives. 

  • Ability to drive the strategic business and technical requirements for large and complex projects/programmes. 

  • Strong facilitation skills to elicit information from key stakeholders. 

  • Ability to simplify and present complex data to different stakeholders. 

  • Confident and effective communicator (both written and verbal) across all levels of the organisation. 

  • Well-developed understanding and practical application of business feasibility assessments. 

  • Deep understanding of business analysis tools, techniques and standards to drive the highest quality documentation, impact assessments and cost benefits analysis. 

  • Advanced process mapping and design skills, including facilitation of process improvement. 

  • Proven and demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills essential, with the ability to think laterally and generate creative solutions. 

  • Ability to identify benefits and support their realisation. 

  • Ability to align business solution to overall corporate strategy requirements. 

  • Excellent MS Office skills, particularly with MS Excel and Visio. 

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with a keen attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deliverables. 

  • Ability to support the test strategy to ensure alignment to project and programme outcomes. 

  • Contribute to system training and change management.  

  • Strong risk mindset to support the project manager in risk identification and mitigation proposals. 

  • A good understanding of a broad range of asset classes (with Equities or Fixed Income as a minimum), along with middle and back-office operations.  

 

Experience: 

  • Highly experienced BA, ideally with extensive experience within an asset management organisation, including some front-office experience within Equities and/or Fixed Income. 

  • Demonstrable experience influencing senior business stakeholders within an asset management organisation.   

  • Proactive and delivery focused with excellent communication skills.  

  • Transformation and project delivery experience.
