Role overview
We're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to build robust data services and optimize database performance. You'll own ingestion pipelines, API layers, and query engines that power how we store, process, and serve financial data. This is a hands-on role where you make technical decisions and build systems the right way.
What you will do
- Build and optimize backend services that power our APIs and integrations.
- Own data accuracy end-to-end: design validation frameworks, reconciliation checks, and anomaly detection to catch errors before they reach users.
- Own database performance: schema design, indexing, query optimization, and scaling.
- Design high-throughput ingestion pipelines that transform raw data into structured, queryable formats.
- Create secure APIs and tooling for internal systems and external developers.
- Support AI workflows with reliable data pipelines, retrieval endpoints, and validation systems.
- Implement comprehensive observability: logging, tracing, and alerting so we detect and fix issues before users see them.
- Work with product and domain experts to turn customer needs into reliable backend systems.
- Drive architectural decisions around data modeling, storage, and performance trade-offs.
- Design guardrails for agent interactions with our data—ensuring correctness and safe operations.
What you will bring
- Curiosity, pragmatism, and genuine excitement to build something that doesn't exist today.
- 5+ years backend engineering with high-volume data products.
- Strong SQL and database design with PostgreSQL and ClickHouse, including optimization and scaling experience.
- Solid Kotlin programming skills for backend development.
- Event-driven architectures and streaming systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub) experience.
- Data pipeline and ETL experience with structured and semi-structured data.
- Python, TypeScript, and Elasticsearch experience.
Nice to have
- Accounting, finance, or enterprise SaaS background.
- AI/ML applications, LLM frameworks, or RAG experience.
