Scope of Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with deep C#/.NET expertise (and Java experience preferred) to join our Digital experience monitoring (DEM) and Analytics Platform. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working within our global engineering organisation, you will help design, build and evolve the Platform: a collection of distributed services that ingest, transform and materialise observability data for use by visualisation, integration, analytics and other domain-focused applications.

This is a hands-on role suited to a developer who can, integrate multiple platforms end-to-end, and collaborate across multiple teams. We are strengthening our core platform in anticipation of wider customer adoption through 2025.

We operate a hybrid working model with 2 days in the office and 3 days from home.

As Senior Backend Developer, you will:
  • Design, develop, test, document and deploy back-end services and APIs with a focus on reliability, performance and scalability.
  • Integrate multiple internal and external platforms via REST/gRPC APIs, SDKs, messaging and identity standards, owning integrations both technically and communicatively with partner teams.
  • Champion quality engineering practices including automated testing, code reviews and observability (metrics, logs, traces) with clear SLOs.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code to ensure operational readiness.
  • Resolve complex production issues
  • Mentor peers and share knowledge; foster collaboration across Engineering, SRE, Security, Product and customer-facing teams.
  • Improve developer experience, tooling and platform integration patterns with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional back-end development experience, with expertise in C# and .NET (C#/.NET, ASP.NET and MSSQL) including building complex distributed systems in production.
  • Experience with AI-based systems and incorporating it in your daily development work.
  • Track record integrating multiple platforms and systems via REST/gRPC APIs, webhooks, SDKs, messaging and identity standards (OAuth2/OpenID Connect/SAML), with cross-team and external partner communication.
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, concurrency and asynchronous programming; able to build beyond frameworks.
  • System design skills, including designing for availability, consistency and partition tolerance; capacity planning and performance engineering.
  • Proficiency in data modelling across relational and MSSQL databases, with experience managing schema evolution and backward compatibility.
  • Observability mindset: instrumenting custom metrics, logs and traces; using monitoring tools to understand system behaviour and performance.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD and automated testing across unit, integration and end-to-end levels.
  • Experience working in globally distributed teams and collaborating across multiple time zones.

Advantageous experience

  • Experience with Java and familiarity with the JVM ecosystem; Spring Boot exposure.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or GCP; infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Helm) and secure configuration management.
  • Performance profiling and tuning in .NET (e.g., dotnet-trace, PerfView) and/or JVM environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with CI/CD solutions (e.g. TeamCity, Octopus Deploy).
  • Hands-on experience with containerisation and Kubernetes (services, deployments, stateful sets, configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Background in high-scale SaaS, financial services or observability/monitoring domains.

Benefits
  • Health Insurance and Dental Health Cover for you and your dependants
  • Pension
  • Flexible Hybrid Working
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • Travel Insurance
  • Life Assurance
  • Income Protection
  • Buy and Sell Holiday
  • Training Reimbursement
