Job Description

Are you ready to work with a team of talented engineers and shape the future of Aviation?

We are looking for a Senior AGL Engineer to join our offices in Manchester, Croydon OR Basingstoke

Aviation is one of the key focus sectors at AECOM, a business sector which sits within our number-one-rated global transportation engineering consultancy. Whilst we are already the number one aviation engineering consultancy by revenue globally, we see significant future growth potential as the sector recovers from the downturn induced by the Covid 19 outbreak. Our clients are beginning to re-invest in their assets, to ensure they are in the right condition, but also to ensure their capacity needs of the future. Aviation Infrastructure is also expected to grow as a business

Traditionally our UK Aviation business has been UK centric, focused on supporting our clients with airfield and civil infrastructure engineering services. Our future growth strategy seeks to diversify the range of services we offer to our clients and the regions where we work. Aviation Infrastructure is at the core of our business and is anticipated to continue to provide the majority of our opportunities and revenue.

Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the infrastructure lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs, commissioning through to in service support. Our clients are many and varied from both the private and public sector and include the major custodians of the Worlds largest airfields, numerous regional airports, and major Contractors.

Current & Upcoming Projects:

  • A wide range of airfield upgrades and rehabilitations.
  • Recent major bid successes on overseas airports
  • Continued work with our established client based both in the UK&I and internationally.
  • A regular programme of airfield inspections, both at home and overseas.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Deliver: Work within the existing AGL team and the broader Aviation infrastructure team to carry out AGL inspections and design on both Civil and Military airfields in the UK&I and overseas.
  • Oversee: Be directly involved in the delivery of AGL projects.
  • Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and support to the design team on all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects, from conceptual phases to implementation.
  • Ensure Quality: A large part of the role will require a key eye of detail and the ability to be able to fully interpret the various aviation standards such EASA, CAA, Military Regulatory Articles etc. and implement them accordingly.
  • Collaborate: Working with a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to deliver integrated designs and build effective relationships with our technical teams and Clients.

If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.

Come grow with us.

We develop projects from concept through operation providing engineering and construction services for multiyear, multimillion-dollar projects for major projects in Aviation.

And let's not forget about the perks at AECOM. You'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customized to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Technical Experience: Experience in AGL/electrical design, airfield operations, airport engineering and the airport-specific construction sector at a senior professional level.
  • Project Management and Delivery: Previous experience of working within AGL teams participating in multi-disciplinary project teams and delivering projects to required quality standards, on time and within budget.
  • Technical Qualifications. Ideally hold and Electrical Engineering related qualification, however consideration will be given to given to candidates with other aviation or military qualifications suited to the role.
  • Drafting. The ability to produce AutoCAD drawings and associated models would be advantageous.
  • Travel: Be able and willing to work and stay away from the office both in the UK and overseas whilst carrying out company business for short durations.

Qualifications

  • IEng or CEng or be working towards such a qualification and membership of a professional institution.
  • Security Clearance - Willing to be subject to government and aviation security evaluations as required as projects dictate.
