The Role
We are seeking a personable and bold individual to assist in growing within our business as an Associate. The role requires an ambitious approach, a willingness to use initiative, an appetite for knowledge, and the ability to work well as part of a team. The successful individual will have knowledge of the M&A insurance market and develop knowledge about different risks facing businesses across a wide range of sectors. They will also support Associates and Senior Associates in managing client insurance requirements, negotiating with markets, and ensuring excellent client service.
What You'll Do
Understand and learn the unique Howden M&A approach to broking, which has underpinned our growth across Europe.
Engage with clients and underwriters and, in time, run transaction processes from an insurance perspective.
Work with specialist tax, environmental, title, and litigation teams to identify up-selling opportunities for supplementary policies.
Join business development meetings and pitches with investors and legal advisors, developing your skillset to eventually run these meetings and build your own client base.
Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to assigned projects.
Develop strong relationships with markets and assist in negotiations to secure the best balance of quality, service, and price.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on company systems and follow internal processes to ensure compliance.
Respond appropriately to urgent issues as they arise and support the planning of suitable insurance programmes for client needs.
Who We're Looking For
A determination and willingness to learn about legal concepts and the M&A market.
Written and oral business proficiency in English.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
Articulate, personable, and comfortable speaking with clients, underwriters, and new contacts.
High levels of numeracy and literacy, with strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Organised, proactive, and able to work flexibly to meet deadlines and targets.
Resilient, tenacious, and capable of building effective working relationships.
Educated to A level standard or possessing relevant industry experience.
