Job Description

Role Summary:
 
Ares Management is looking for an ambitious, highly skilled, and entrepreneurial communications professional to join the Corporate Communications & Marketing team as an Associate based in London. This person will be responsible for supporting the external communications function, including the promotion and protection of the Ares Management brand, across Europe. A strong track record of effective media relations, working with or in proximity to senior stakeholders, and project management are critical for success in this role.

Vice President, External Communications (EMEA Lead) 

 

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
 
The responsibilities of this role will be focused on media engagement, issues management, drafting written communications and project management. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Managing inbound media requests, coordinating with internal stakeholders to execute timely responses. 

  • Proactively developing storylines and pitching to relevant media in line with investment team priorities. 

  • Identifying and securing external speaking engagement and high-profile media opportunities. 

  • Building and strengthening Ares’ network of media relationships across key titles in EMEA. 

  • Drafting communications (press releases, media talking points, Q&As, communications plans, etc.) and managing internal and external review processes. 

  • Managing multiple projects and tasks with business-critical deadlines. 

  • Supporting with clipping, internal tracking and reporting, and press release distribution. 

  • Delivering fresh ideas, producing high-quality work, and driving results. 

  • Serving as a trusted advisor and strategic counselor to Ares’ investment teams. 

  • Supporting portfolio companies on communications matters, as needed. 
     

Qualifications:
 
Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree desirable.  

 

Other: 

  • Foreign language skills relevant to EMEA markets (Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Milan) are also desirable.  

 

Experience Required 

  • 2-5 years of corporate communications experience, either in-house or at a strategic communications firm. 

  • Understanding of and experience in the asset management industry and/or broader financial services industry is a must. Experience with private equity or credit, real estate and/or infrastructure, and wealth management communications is preferred. 

  • Strong track record of securing media opportunities with financial and trade media outlets. 

  • Strategic thinker who is results-oriented and can deliver high-value programs at a tactical level. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit/proof for content and context. 

  • Experience tracking and measuring results to ensure they are in line with intended outcomes. 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and agency partners. 

  • Ability to solicit feedback and build consensus. 

  • Strong organisation skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize. 

  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to execute with limited oversight.
