We provide the world’s preeminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. At Norton Rose Fulbright, our strategy and our culture are closely entwined. As well as the relevant skills and experience, we're looking for people who are innovative, commercial and value the work that they do.

Norton Rose Fulbright is one of the world’s leading global law firms, with a strong and highly regarded presence in the Energy, Infrastructure, and Natural Resources sectors. We have one of the largest and most experienced project finance teams in the world, advising clients on the full spectrum of projects and related financing transactions across the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors.

Our team offers an exciting and dynamic environment in which to develop your career, with exposure to market-leading projects, complex cross-border transactions, and a diverse range of clients, from sovereigns and multilateral organizations to developers, investors, and financial institutions.

The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced associate to join our project finance team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile and complex projects in various sectors, in multiple jurisdictions across the developed and emerging markets.

You will be involved in a wide range of project finance matters, across the sectors including mining and digital infrastructure. You will work closely with senior partners and associates, gaining exposure to cutting-edge legal and commercial issues across multiple sectors and jurisdictions.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Advising clients on the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of project financing arrangements, including limited recourse and non-recourse financing.
  • Acting on a range of energy, infrastructure, and natural resources projects, including those in the mining and digital infrastructure sectors.
  • Providing guidance on the regulatory, contractual, and risk management aspects of project financing.
  • Collaborating with other practice areas such as corporate, real estate, and tax to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
  • Developing relationships with clients, both domestic and international, and playing a role in business development efforts.
  • Assisting with mentoring and supervising junior associates and trainees, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Key Skills and Experience

  • 5-8 years’ PQE in project finance, ideally gained at a leading international law firm or a top-tier boutique with a strong focus on energy, infrastructure, and natural resources projects, and with exposure to emerging markets.
  • Strong technical expertise in structuring and negotiating project finance transactions, particularly in sectors such as mining and digital infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable experience in cross-border transactions and working with multinational teams.
  • Solid understanding of the key legal and commercial aspects of project finance, including the interaction of finance documents, project documents, and regulatory issues.
  • A proven ability to manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic approach to solving complex legal issues.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to developing and sharing technical expertise.
  • An excellent academic background.
