Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Associate, will be a key contributor of BWS’ growing team and will report to the Managing Director of our Risk Management team.  The role will be based in Brookfield’s London office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Formulating foreign exchange, interest rate and inflation hedge strategies to support BWS UK bulk annuity businesses

  • Executing trades and day-to-day management of portfolio of foreign exchange, interest rate and inflation derivatives

  • Overseeing derivative counterparty relationships and ensuring appropriate credit lines and documentation to support derivative program

  • Managing liquidity needs and ensuring sufficient collateral including overseeing liquidity facilities to support hedging needs

  • Liaising with UK M&A, investments and actuarial teams to ensure timely information flow and to support the global business

  • Maintaining regular reporting and communication of derivatives to senior management and various operating teams

  • Provide market reports and present macroeconomic views with focus on the UK and Europe

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Degree in finance, accounting or related business discipline

  • Completed CFA or related designation, or working towards qualification an asset

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in sales and trading, structuring or buy side management of foreign exchange, rates, inflation and other derivatives

  • Strong understanding of derivative markets including structuring and execution of positions

  • Insurance sector experience and knowledge of insurance reporting requirements is an asset

  • Above-average proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power BI, VBA, Power Query); experience with SQL or other data tools is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to own and improve processes

  • Strong communication and collaborative skills, written and oral

  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently

  • Organizational skills to effectively manage priorities, multi-task where necessary, work well under pressure and meet timelines

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization

  • Judgement, critical thinking and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness

  • Team-oriented with a commitment to shared success above personal accomplishment or recognition

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
