About the Role

As a lawyer at Alaro, you’ll help shape what an AI-native law firm looks like in practice; delivering clear, timely legal judgment to clients while building a faster, more consistent delivery model behind the scenes. You’ll work closely with clients and other external stakeholders, and partner day-to-day with our internal engineering and operations teams to translate what happens on real matters into better systems, tooling and playbooks.

This is a highly visible role: your work will directly influence client outcomes, business growth, and how quickly we can scale high-quality legal delivery.

What you’ll do
  • Matter leadership: Lead matters across corporate and commercial workstreams with speed, precision, and sound commercial judgment; from first issue-spotting through to execution and close.

  • Client ownership: Own and expand client relationships over time, building trust, advising as a true partner, and contributing meaningfully to business development and growth.

  • Risk judgment: Interpret terms, identify risk, and give clear, actionable advice, balancing legal rigor with the client’s commercial objectives and timeline.

  • Team collaboration: Collaborate closely with legal colleagues to deliver consistently high-quality outcomes, share learnings, and raise the bar across the team.

  • Product partnership: Partner with engineering and operations to advance our delivery model and tooling, turning real matter feedback into better systems that compound our impact.

  • Playbook building: Standardize and codify recurring work into templates, precedents, and playbooks that improve consistency and speed without losing judgment.

  • Tooling champion: Champion internal tooling and workflows so routine work moves faster: freeing lawyers to spend more time on negotiation strategy, critical decisions, and client outcomes.

Who you are

We’re looking for accomplished lawyers with an ownership mindset and an entrepreneurial drive. You take pride in delivering clear, timely legal judgment, and you’re excited by the chance to build a modern way of practicing, combining senior expertise with intelligent systems. You move quickly but thoughtfully, grounded in intellectual curiosity, rigorous analysis, and principled decision-making.

You’ll thrive at Alaro if you:

  • Are a practicing lawyer (7+ years PQE) in private practice and/or in-house, with strong capability across both corporate and commercial workstreams.

  • Are qualified and in good standing with the SRA.

  • Take responsibility for outcomes (not tasks), close loops reliably, and care deeply about the quality of what goes out the door.

  • Understand commercial objectives and dynamics, and you can translate complex legal issues into clear, practical recommendations.

  • Are comfortable being visible with clients and contributing to business growth over time.

  • Are enthusiastic about leveraging AI to improve legal service delivery.

  • Are naturally looking for ways to improve speed, consistency, and quality through templates, playbooks, workflows, and standardization.

  • Have mentored or trained junior lawyers (or are excited to), and you raise the bar through how you work.

  • Have clear evidence of sustained top-tier performance in something (inside or outside work).

Location

You’ll be expected to work from our London office at least 10 days per month, with flexibility for the remaining days within a time zone overlap of ±1 with GMT.

About Alaro

Alaro is building the next generation of legal services; an AI-native law firm built to deliver clear, timely legal judgment for investment funds, financial institutions, and corporates. We combine senior expertise with intelligent systems so routine work happens faster, and critical decisions don’t wait. We’re building a firm for lawyers who want to work at that frontier.

We started Alaro in April 2025 and raised a $2M pre-seed followed by a $7M seed led by a tier-1 US VC. Our product is used daily by our own lawyers on real matters, creating a tight feedback loop between product and practice. With early customers and a world-class engineering & legal team taking shape, it’s still day one - come build with us.

How we work
  • Challenge the status quo: We don’t inherit law-firm processes only because it has always been done. We challenge it and rebuild from first principles.

  • We move fast, then solidify: We deliver high-quality work quickly, then codify what works into playbooks and repeatable workflows. Progress beats polish, but quality is non-negotiable.

  • High ownership, commercial judgment: We own matters end-to-end, act as trusted counsel, and communicate clearly on risk and trade-offs. We close loops, getting it done by when you say you will.

  • AI-native by default: We work in an AI-assisted way day to day. Our lawyers are hands-on with modern tools to move faster on routine work and keep momentum, so they can spend more time on judgment, negotiation, and outcomes.

What we offer
  • Meaningful ownership: Competitive salary and meaningful commission/equity, with real responsibility and impact from day one.

  • Client exposure from day one: You’ll work directly with clients; owning matters, building trust, and delivering clear, timely legal judgment (not sitting behind layers).

  • Small senior team, real impact: You’ll work closely with founders, senior lawyers, and the engineering team to shape how the firm operates as it grows: what we do and how we do it.

  • Freedom to experiment: You’ll have the autonomy and support to make your mark by building enduring client relationships over time, and by testing and scaling better ways of practicing (tooling, templates, playbooks, workflows) across the firm.

  • Time together that matters: We bring the whole company together once a year for an offsite in Alaro (Mallorca), and regularly gather the team in one of our offices to align, whiteboard, and discuss in person.
