Overview:

Mitel is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Developer to join our Security Engineering team and build internal web-based tools that support secure software development. In this role, you will take ownership of projects from design to deployment, designing and developing applications that streamline processes such as software inventory, vulnerability tracking, license compliance, and automation for DevSecOps workflows. You will collaborate with a geographically dispersed team to deliver scalable, efficient solutions that improve developer productivity and strengthen overall security. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong web development experience and an interest in learning secure development practices. You don’t need to be a security expert.  We’ll provide guidance and resources to help you grow in this area.

Responsibilities:

• Product Ownership: Work closely with users and stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable product requirements

• Software Architecture and Design: Collaborate with development teams to design and implement robust solutions.

• Application Development: Enhance, optimize, and deploy in-house tools to address evolving needs and streamline workflows.

• API Integration: Integrate APIs to enable seamless communication between systems and support automation.

• Security Development Lifecycle Practices: Design tools to automate our SDL processes including vulnerability, license and compliance management.

RMandatory qualifications::

• Computer Science, Engineering, or related field degree or equivalent technical experience.

• 5+ years of experience in application development, ideally in web applications.

• Proficiency in web application development using PHP/Yii2 or other modern frameworks such as Java Spring, .NET, Node.js, or Python/Django.   Experience with PHP/Yii2 is a plus but not required.

• Experience with Python for scripting and automation.

• Familiarity with MySQL and SQL.

• Experience with Docker for containerization.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Desirable qualifications::

• Familiar with SDL practices and automation.

• Interest in learning secure development practices and familiarity with basic security concepts is a plus (e.g., vulnerability management, compliance)

• Experience with one or more of the following tools: Mend SCA, Jira/JQL, GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline and JFrog Artifactory.
