Here’s a Summary of the Role
Are you passionate about political and social research? Do you have a knack for turning complex data into compelling stories and communications? Have you got experience working with statistical and computational research methods to answer political questions? YouGov has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analytics Executive to join our new Elections and Political Data team!
In this role, you'll be a key player in a team of experts, designing and delivering cutting-edge, high-impact research for a wide range of clients and stakeholders, as well as contributing to YouGov’s public data mission. You'll get to work on fascinating projects, from global elections and campaigns to product development and public outputs.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
Work as part of a team of political analytics experts, running projects, developing research tools and methods, supporting the work of team directors, and supporting to day-to-day functions of the team – including our election polling programmes and public data service.
Working with clients needing advanced data analysis and holistic reporting, designing cutting-edge research projects that directly address client needs and unlock new political and social understanding for them.
Create compelling presentations, reports, and visualisations (charts, dashboards) that effectively communicate insights and answer critical client questions.
Work on research and development across our political analytics and political research offerings, finding ways to increase efficiency, upgrade the insights we can offer, and embed new advances in technology and methods.
Contributing to our public data mission by writing articles and data releases and presenting YouGov research and analysis to interested parties.
These are the essential skills and experience you’ll need to get an interview:
Experience working in social science research either in academic or industry (including but not limited to polling, consultancy, political/social research) settings, including the application of statistical and/or computational research methods to social science data.
Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistical methods (e.g., regression, causal inference, machine learning, and more).
Experience working with AI and/or machine learning to analyse open text data and/or produce summaries and analysis of large-scale datasets.
Proficiency in R and/or Python for data analysis, modelling, and visualisation.
Ability to communicate complex findings to a variety of audiences, both verbally and written, in both small group (including stakeholder, client) and larger audience formats.
