Curious about what’s next?
So are we. Join Compare the Market and help to make financial decision making a breeze for millions.
At Compare the Market, we’re a purpose-driven business powered by tech and AI. We’re building high-performing, results-driven teams with the skills, mindset, and ambition to deliver outcomes at pace. Every role here plays a part in driving our mission forward, and we create an environment where you can bring your authentic self, grow a truly characterful career, and see the direct impact of your work on the lives of our customers.
We’ve carved a meerkat-shaped niche and we’re looking for ambitious, curious thinkers who thrive in a fast-moving, high-impact environment. If you love accountability, embrace challenge, and want to make a real difference, you’ll fit right in.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading delivery across multiple complex data and analytics workstreams, helping shape strategy and roadmap direction in partnership with Staff Analytics Engineers and engineering leadership.
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable analytics solutions using SQL, DBT, Python, and modern data platform technologies, ensuring reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Acting as a technical expert within the team, driving best practices across data modelling, testing, CI/CD, documentation, code review, and operational excellence.
- Partnering with Product, Analytics, Technology, and Data Platform teams to deliver trusted data products, executive-facing reporting, and commercial insights that drive better business decisions.
- Owning complex data incidents from identification through to root cause analysis, resolution, and prevention, while reducing delivery and operational risk across the wider function.
- Mentoring and developing engineers, delegating effectively, unblocking teams, and helping create an environment where engineers can grow and deliver independently.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. You'll be comfortable operating across large, complex data environments, driving technical direction while delivering business impact through both your own contribution and the success of others.
Key experience includes:
- Advanced SQL expertise and strong hands-on experience with DBT, with recognised expertise in one or more analytics engineering domains.
- Strong Python or scripting experience, with the ability to build automation, frameworks, and scalable data solutions.
- Proven experience delivering complex analytics, reporting, and BI solutions from discovery through to adoption.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, testing, performance optimisation, data quality, and reliability engineering practices.
- Experience leading multiple workstreams simultaneously and operating across a broader function rather than supporting a single team.
- Strong mentoring and coaching experience, with a track record of raising engineering standards and developing others.
- Experience working with modern engineering practices including Git, CI/CD, automation, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interest in AI-enabled tooling and modern ways of working, with a pragmatic approach to adopting new technologies responsibly.
Why Compare the Market?
We’re a business built for pace and performance. Here, you’ll be encouraged to think differently, act boldly, and deliver brilliantly in a culture that values results and rewards progress.
We believe diverse teams make better decisions, and we’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels empowered to grow, contribute, and thrive.
