We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Access Governance Manager to play a key role in enabling secure, ethical, and efficient access to one of the world’s most comprehensive health research resources.
Despite significant advances in healthcare, millions of people in the UK still experience poor health as they age. Diseases such as cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease continue to impact individuals, families, and communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, helping researchers better understand how and why diseases develop so they can be detected earlier, prevented, and treated more effectively.
Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new approaches to detecting, preventing, and treating disease. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry, and we work closely with the NHS and public authorities across the UK.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you will lead and continuously improve the Access Process and Access Board governance, ensuring researchers can access data, samples, and participant re-contact opportunities in a secure, efficient, and compliant way. You will play a central role in balancing rapid research enablement with robust governance and ethical standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and optimising the Access Process to support timely and secure access to datasets, biological samples, and participant re-contact
- Planning and overseeing Access Board governance, including coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining accurate records of decisions and actions
- Leading reporting and regular reviews of Access Board activity to ensure transparency and continuous improvement
- Managing and developing the Access Governance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture
- Driving service improvements, system enhancements, and policy development to improve efficiency and researcher experience
- Acting as a key point of contact for access-related queries, providing expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensuring fast turnaround of research proposals while maintaining high standards of compliance and quality
- Designing and delivering training to strengthen team capability and consistency
- Building strong stakeholder relationships across internal teams and external partners
- Advising leadership on access governance matters and contributing to strategic decision-making

- Strong project and change management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
