SCUK Senior IT Project Manager - Contract Hire

Santander Consumer Finance is one of the UKs Leading Motor Finance companies providing finance to a network of dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

We are currently looking for a highly experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join us to manage complex, business critical technology projects across the Contract Hire and Leasing space, which will start with the implementation of our internal, global Leasing platform.

This role requires someone with significant Motor Finance and Leasing experience to spearhead the project through the implementation and into the roll out phase.

Please note this role is based in Redhill, Surrey and requires at least 3 days in the office, remote workers will not be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and the Project Sponsor to define and align on project scope and objectives
  • Utilise industry knowledge in Leasing and Motor Finance to lead and influence decision based on learnt best practices
  • Oversee the delivery of the project scope, functional and non-functional requirements, and all associated deliverables across all project phases
  • Leverage extensive expertise to drive the optimal application of Santander’s project lifecycle and standards, working effectively with internal and external teams, ensuring delivery aligns with scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards
  • Foster strong relationships with Executive project sponsors, stakeholders, and the wider ExCo team, ensuring transparency through comprehensive status reporting, including full RAID management
  • Develop and maintain a holistic project plan in coordination with Project workstream leads, guaranteeing effective allocation and utilization of delivery and business unit SME resources to meet project requirements
  • Create, maintain, and implement robust communication plans, ensuring effective engagement across the project team and the broader organization
  • Serve as a key liaison between internal and external technical teams, building and nurturing productive working relationships
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate efficient meetings and workshops with Executive Directors, project sponsors, delivery teams, and business units
  • Manage project budget, scope, and schedule, tracking deliverables while clearly articulating project status through both verbal and written communication
  • Manage activities and delivery across multiple project phases, through effective planned, change and dependency management
  • Define and measure suitable project KPIs, conducting thorough reviews of lessons learned, benefits realization, and budget performance (capex and opex comparisons).
  • Proactively identify, manage, and escalate key risks related to the delivery of the project and its objectives, adhering to the Santander UK group risk framework
  • Collaborate with the Head of Contract Hire & Leasing to manage project transition into business-as-usual, ensuring service transition plans are meticulously defined, tested, and implemented
  • Conduct thorough reviews of lessons learned, capturing a diverse range of views to agree on what went well and what could be done differently or improved for future projects

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, with a track record of successful hands-on delivery of complex technology focused projects and business change
  • Previous demonstrable experience leading a high-profile project in the Leasing or Motor Finance industry
  • Has a strong understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to contract hire sales, finance sales and customer management within the financial services sector, and is familiar with the FCA’s principles of business and code of conduct
  • Someone with a high level of motivation and determination that can overcome challenges and find solutions to overcome problems, through teamwork and collaboration
  • Adept at communication and influencing at Executive Director level and to all stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Significant experience in managing third-party vendors including building and maintaining effective and strong partnership relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experience within regulated Financial Services businesses
  • Someone who is not phased by ambiguity, and is able to build an approach to deliver the required outcomes
  • Operates under own initiative with tenacity and a strong appetite for results
