Job Description:

WHAT - Summary & Purpose of the Position

The Science Communications Senior Manager will play a key role in building and elevating Ipsen’s reputation as a science-driven company, reporting to the Head of Global Science Communications within the Corporate Affairs team. This position will work closely with Global R&D, medical, and partnering teams to create and deliver impactful communications that highlight Ipsen’s execution of cutting-edge science and its potential to deliver transformational treatments across the therapeutic areas of Oncology, Rare Disease, and Neuroscience.

The role will also support the amplification of Ipsen’s expanding portfolio by showcasing scientific achievements in existing and new therapeutic areas, including the integration of new modalities through Ipsen’s external innovation strategy. By crafting and executing engaging communication campaigns, the Science Communications Manager will ensure Ipsen’s science is effectively communicated to internal and external audiences, inspiring confidence and excitement across stakeholders and supporting Ipsen’s mission to improve patient outcomes.

WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies

  • Develop and execute communication campaigns for R&D programs across Ipsen’s pipeline, as well as ongoing medical studies, to support the safe and effective use of Ipsen’s medicines.
  • Drive external visibility and enhance Ipsen’s reputation as a science-driven company by telling compelling stories about Ipsen’s science, assets, and people.
  • Plan and implement awareness activities for key milestones, including disease awareness days and corporate celebrations, to highlight Ipsen’s achievements and leadership in science.
  • Support conference visibility by developing booth content, social media campaigns, and thought leadership opportunities to reinforce Ipsen’s presence at global events.
  • Collaborate with the Global Head of Media Relations to identify, prepare for, and execute media interviews with members of Ipsen’s Executive Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with Ipsen’s scientific messaging.
  • Prepare communications materials for pipeline program announcements, Phase IV or real-world evidence studies, and publications, ensuring clarity and consistency across all channels.
  • Develop and deliver communications materials for new partnerships or pipeline additions through Ipsen’s external innovation strategy, showcasing Ipsen’s progress and opportunities.
  • Lead internal communications for R&D and medical functions, including planning and executing Town Halls, drafting internal articles, and organizing events to inform and engage colleagues on key deliverables and achievements.
  • Create and maintain core resources and materials related to Ipsen’s R&D, medical programs, and global partnering efforts, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Update Ipsen’s science-focused content on Ipsen.com  bi-annually to reflect the latest developments and achievements.
  • Develop engaging social media content to amplify Ipsen’s scientific narrative and foster online visibility.
  • Support the Head of Science Communications with delivering executive visibility initiatives across Ipsen’s owned channels, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with Ipsen’s priorities.
  • Contribute to the preparation and execution of communication activities for congresses, working closely with the Head of Science Communications and Medical Excellence teams.
  • Help implement a publications strategy to showcase Ipsen’s early development programs and new modalities, using data publications to build credibility and tell impactful scientific stories.

HOW - Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge & Experience (essential):

  •  Experience in defining, developing and executing strategic communications programs at a global or local level covering internal and external stakeholders needs.
  • Experience in scientific and medical communications supporting R&D, brand or franchise positionings. Preference for experience in Ipsen's strategic areas of Oncology, Rare Disease, Neuroscience.
  • Strong experience and capabilities in written materials across range of audiences from HCPs, general public, patients, scientists, biotech. 
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Internal communications experience including community management

Knowledge & Experience (preferred):

  •  Scientific background preferred but not essential.
  • Leadership communications experience preferred.
  • Experienced communications individual with at least 5 years experience. In house experience preferred but not essential.

Education / Certifications (essential):

  •  Degree-level education

Language(s) (essential):

  • English, French
