The role

We have a market leading reputation for producing bespoke solutions for niche customer groups managed by our broker partners. Within the wider Schemes team we deliver Schemes (Delegated Authorities and MGA) solutions across the UK retail business.

You’ll work across the existing portfolio of MGA business as well as analysing the impact of new MGA opportunities.  You’ll work with the wider Schemes Team across underwriting, operations and sales. You will work closely with the wider Hiscox UK business including Heads of Underwriting, our Chief Underwriting Officer and Pricing and Portfolio Management ensuring alignment with wider Hiscox UK strategy.

You will report directly to the Schemes MGA Lead and you will have responsibility for shaping and delivering our Schemes performance and portfolio management strategy in support of driving improvement and profitable growth to our schemes MGA portfolio, playing an integral part in realising our ambitions of growing the portfolio in line with our strategic plans.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and executing the Schemes performance and portfolio management strategies to support the business with decision making and ensure the successful delivery of our MGA Sector profitable growth targets

  • Responsibility for identifying trends and providing insights for recommended performance improvement to deliver performance objectives of our existing MGA Portfolio

  • Deploying analytical skills to assess new MGAs to identify opportunities for profitable growth

  • Act as a senior representative for Hiscox and your Sector both internally and externally

  • Support strategic relationships in terms of trading and execution with our broking partners

  • Proactively identify and action the necessary portfolio performance strategies that will deliver the plan and support our vision

  • Working in conjunction with our wider Schemes Leadership Team you will be responsible for the design, creation and production of visualisation tools in support of our Active Performance and Portfolio Management ambitions

  • Working in conjunction with the wider data teams you will be responsible for the identification and assessment of external datasets, and the design and creation of our internal data standards

  • Applying knowledge of the regulatory environment to all portfolio decisions and ensuring recommendations result in our customers being treated fairly and consistently in line with Hiscox values

  • Work with and support the design and implementation of new technologies – including cloud-based data warehouses, data-visualisation products, and new underwriting software for the business

  • Providing an independent review and recommendation for senior underwriting management on large individual case underwritten risks

  • Offering support and coaching for portfolio underwriting analysts, sharing your own experience and expertise to support their development

Our must-haves:

  • Demonstrates a depth of experience in a similar role, developing and executing the performance and portfolio management strategies to drive performance and growth

  • Experience of MGAs (either operating within or management of at a senior level)

  • Confident in the use of data analysis tools including R and SQL and data visualisation tools including Power BI

  • Confident in developing analytical frameworks for performance and portfolio management to set strategic direction

  • Experienced in applying analytical techniques to extract meaningful trends and make recommendations

  • Ability to make confident decisions in difficult and complex situations

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a collaborative environment

  • Excellent numerical, analytical and data manipulation skills

  • Results driven, ability to make decisions and operate on own initiative

  • Ability to execute and influence at all levels both internally and externally

  • Open to new ideas, innovation and educated risk taking

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate the complex to technical and non-technical audiences
