The Opportunity:

We’re growing, and we want you to be part of it! We’ve created a dedicated Schemes function within our UK Broker team, responsible for managing all Scheme business through our Broker partners. Schemes are delegated underwriting authority arrangements, and we operate across multiple classes including PI, Care, Tech, Life Science, Construction, and BTE Legal Expenses—with exciting new product areas on the horizon.

As a Schemes Deal Manager, you’ll be at the heart of this growth, reporting to the Head of Schemes Development. You’ll oversee existing delegated deals, drive performance reviews, handle stakeholder relationships, and onboard new opportunities. This is your chance to shape the future of our Schemes business.

This role will lead the distribution plan for Schemes, developing a structure and operating pattern for ongoing broker views in conjunction with the Business Development team. Ensures Schemes Account Managers provide performance data to Account Directors and support existing broker reviews and QBRs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the way: Develop a robust structure for oversight and performance analysis of delegated deals

  • Build relationships: Act as the key point of contact for brokers and internal teams, ensuring smooth collaboration

  • Drive growth: Support new delegated opportunities and help secure and onboard new facilities

  • Strategic impact: Work with leadership to deliver retention and growth plans, backed by data-driven insights

  • Champion excellence: Represent Markel with credibility and professionalism, cultivating long-term industry relationships

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in General Insurance, specifically delegated authority within the UK Broker/MGA market

  • A track record of success in securing and retaining delegated authority and portfolio business

  • Strong strategic oversight and partner management skills

  • Ability to interpret performance data and present insights confidently

  • A self-starter with initiative, ambition, and a passion for building market-leading solutions
