This is an exciting position for a candidate who has an appetite to learn and who may have aspirations for career growth within a distribution environment, with the opportunity to learn more about the BDM role with a view, where a vacancy exists, to becoming a trainee and then fully fledged Business Development Executive/Manager in the future.

There will be a requirement to gain industry qualifications, if not already held.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Client Development, the role-holder will be working with the Business Development team, supporting the work we do within the corporate and entrepreneur segment, which includes: corporate professional services (solicitors and accountants) and mergers and acquisition (M&A) firms. 

Key Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide the team and its members with the necessary information to drive new business opportunities, both pre- and post-sale.
  • Support the development of regular Quilter Cheviot communications targeted at intermediaries identified by the distribution team.
  • Collate and maintain information on intermediaries from various sources available to Quilter Cheviot to assist in building and managing panels.
  • Liaise with other internal functions on behalf of the distribution team to ensure timely distribution of materials, messaging, and information.
  • Attend distribution team meetings, capture key action points, and ensure follow-up.
  • Conduct research on relevant topics, such as competitor analysis, to support the distribution team.
  • Monitor industry publications for emerging themes and share insights for wider use within the team.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings/events (both virtual and in-person) as support to the distribution team, including managing follow-up activities such as attendee data, CPD certificates, and scheduling follow-up meetings.
  • Maintain and update content on the Distribution Intranet (SharePoint) and Training (Degreed) web pages.
  • Assist in developing relationships with solicitors, accountants, and M&A firms; handle incoming queries effectively and arrange meetings as requested by the distribution team.
  • Use software tools (such as Beauhurst and LinkedIn) to create prospecting lists to support IMs and FPs.
  • Assist with collecting management information and maintaining accurate pipeline reporting.

  • Work closely with the distribution team and colleagues across Quilter Cheviot’s regional offices when appropriate.
  • Support initiatives that enhance engagement with professional services firms and entrepreneurial clients.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and marketing materials for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in coordinating events, webinars, and CECE initiatives to promote the Corporate & Entrepreneur proposition.

Experience & Knowledge

  • A background in Distribution, Sales, or Marketing would be beneficial.
  • Ideally, a basic understanding of financial services with a willingness to extend knowledge and become appropriately qualified.
  • Interest in developing an understanding of the entrepreneurial journey and the value of working with professional services firms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, with solid skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Linkedin
