About the Role
The Springer Nature Sales Operations Centre of Excellence (SOCoE) is a Dordrecht, London, Berlin, and Heidelberg based team, operating in the academic publishing industry. We are part of our worldwide sales organisation and are tasked to improve the way we work in our day-to-day operations of delivering online scientific content to our customers. The Sales Operations Reporting & Analytics Specialist creates reports and dashboards, analyse metrics, and reports data to the Senior VPs and high-level management. This role is responsible for providing a comprehensive assessment and overall evaluation of reporting deliverables using various systems and visualisation tools.
In the day-to-day business this person will typically work closely with the internal Sales, Sales Operations, and IT departments. Jointly they work on continuous improvement of workflows and the way our services are delivered to the customers.
A significant part of the work will consist of innovating the data and reporting processes and user interface of the CRM systems. The requirements of these improvements will be defined together with stakeholders and key-users.
Purpose of the role:
Creating reports and dashboards, providing data analytics, and implementing projects to drive operational change based on best practices as part of the continuous improvement strategy, whilst supporting business as usual development within the institutional sales organisation.
Role Responsibilities:
· Create and maintain new report templates and dashboards either upon user request or own initiative
· Research and analyse operational data to identify areas of improvement
· Assist in expanding the financial reporting platform across the organisation (Salesforce, Data Studio, GBQ, SAP Query Designer, CRM Analytics)
· Train relevant team members on the different reporting platforms.
· Project manage against set timelines and deliverables
· Contribute to strategic direction for operational improvements
· Support Sales and Sales Operations with continuous improvement
· Proactively initiate projects that align and support the strategic objectives
· Implement and manage change processes
· Manage and translate requirements of change from business to IT
· Provide excellent communication acting as a liaison for key stakeholders
· Provide (online) training to the stakeholder community during the implementation of change
· Support the monthly process of loading Institutional sales into Intelis (manage process when required)
· Contribute to the development of Intelis to meet the needs of the stakeholders
· Contribute to the logic for the calculation of allocated revenue in Salesforce
· Analyse IT tools and suggest changes needed to be able to support initiatives.
Key relationships:
· The Sales Operations Reporting & Analytics Specialist will report to the Director of the Sales Operations Centre of Excellence and be part of the Sales Operations Centre of Excellence team.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
Minimum 6 years’ experience in data analysis, with strong analytical skills and commercial acumen
Experience with CRM systems and data analysis tools (e.g. GBQ, Looker, Google Analytics, Excel)
Solid financial understanding and ability to interpret business data
Project, process, and workflow analysis skills from planning through implementation
Proactive self-starter and problem solver with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (written and verbal)
Team player with a flexible, reliable, results-oriented working style and international/cultural sensitivity
Desirable:
Previous experience in Academic Publishing industry
Relevant Masters degree in data analytics or similar
Consulting skills and experience
Project management qualifications (e.g. Prince2, agile scrum, etc.)
Python knowledge would be an asset
