The Sales and Marketing Insights Intern will support the Group Sales and Marketing team with a range of activities across sales performance, marketing effectiveness, reporting, customer insight and day-to-day team administration. This is an entry-level role designed for someone recently out of university who is looking to begin their career in a commercial, data-led sales and marketing environment.

Working closely with colleagues across sales, marketing, digital and divisional teams, the intern will help gather, interpret and present performance information across a variety of channels. This may include analysing sales trends, campaign results, lead generation, website and digital marketing activity, customer engagement and other key measures used to support business decision making.

The role will suit someone with a background or academic discipline linked to data, insights, analytics, business, marketing, economics or a related subject. The successful candidate will be curious, organised and comfortable working with numbers, with a desire to learn how data and insight can be used to improve sales and marketing performance.

This is a 6–12 month internship within the Group Sales and Marketing department.

Principal Duties or Responsibilities:

The position will encompass a range of responsibilities supporting the Sales and Marketing team, with a particular focus on performance analysis, insight gathering, reporting and coordination, including;

Principal Duties:

Performance Analysis & Reporting

  • Support the collation, review and interpretation of sales and marketing performance data across multiple channels
  • Help maintain accurate spreadsheets, dashboards and reports to support team and stakeholder decision making
  • Identify trends, patterns and opportunities from data, escalating observations to the wider team
  • Support the preparation of insight summaries and performance updates for internal meetings

Sales and Marketing Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Group Sales and Marketing team across a variety of projects and tasks
  • Assist with the coordination of marketing activity, campaign tracking and follow-up actions
  • Support the team with preparation for meetings, presentations and internal updates
  • Help ensure information from sales and marketing channels is accurate, organised and easy to access

Insight, Research & Customer Understanding

  • Support customer, competitor and market research to help inform sales and marketing activity
  • Assist in reviewing customer behaviour, enquiry sources and campaign responses to understand what is driving performance
  • Help translate data and research findings into clear, practical observations for the team

Stakeholder Support & Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Group Sales and Marketing, digital, communications and divisional sales teams
  • Respond positively to ad hoc requests and support the team with administrative, analytical and coordination tasks as required
  • Build confidence in communicating findings clearly and professionally to different stakeholders

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Act as a positive ambassador for the Sales and Marketing team, demonstrating professionalism, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • Support the wider department with ad hoc project work and administrative tasks as required.
  • Take ownership of agreed tasks, asking questions where needed and delivering work accurately and on time.

Essential Qualifications/Attributes

We are looking for people to join our Company who can demonstrate preferably all of the below:

Experience:

  • No prior full-time work experience required; this role is suitable for someone recently out of university and looking for their first role
  • Experience working with data, insight, reporting or analysis through university projects, internships, placements or part-time work would be desirable

Qualifications:

  • Degree level education, ideally in a discipline related to data, insights, analytics, business, marketing, economics, mathematics or a similar field

Skills:

  • Strong analytical mindset with confidence working with numbers and data
  • Good Excel skills and willingness to learn new reporting, CRM, analytics and marketing platforms
  • Ability to interpret information and present findings clearly and simply
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks with support
  • Curious, enthusiastic and keen to develop a career in sales, marketing, insight or commercial performance
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and building positive relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to handle information responsibly and maintain accuracy and confidentiality where required
