Job Description

As a Sales Engineer, you play a critical role in the development of our rapidly expanding VAS business. You will work as part of a European team of payment experts for the UK & Ireland market supported by regional VAS Solutions and Sales teams. You will use your knowledge of products, industry, and technology to design holistic solutions that meet business and technical needs across individual customers, customer segments, and regions. You work hands-on with customers - keeping in mind evolving market, client, and consumer needs, with the objective of driving significant future European market growth for Visa. You support clients to optimize their use and performance of Visa VAS products. 

 Key responsibilities/accountabilities 

  • Support the technical sales of our VAS solutions throughout the sales process, prioritizing customer satisfaction and Visa growth 
  • Represent Visa VAS during customer product ideation stages, helping them fully leverage Visa VAS in their propositions 
  • Support technical sales projects and initiatives (e.g., demos, prototypes), by applying structure and guidance both internally and externally 
  • Design architectural solutions that align with customer needs and goals while meeting partner and Visa objectives 
  • Identify and address potential issues and risks in client designs and implementations, collaborating with VAS Solutions Teams when necessary to ensure challenges are resolved and value is delivered 
  • Serve as an expert on Visa VAS, offering technical advice and establishing trust-based relationships with customers 
  • Support market, customer, and competitive research to understand trends and needs 
  • Support customers in driving efficiency and profitability by ensuring effective use and implementation of our solutions, maximizing the utilization of VAS and broader Visa offerings 
  • Continuously build knowledge of technical architecture, tools, systems, and languages used across various business partners to ensure clarity among all parties 
  • Collaborate closely with the Special Sales team and clients to understand customer needs and desired outcomes, creating solutions that utilize VAS, Visa, and client technology to deliver these needs 
  • Employ a consultative technical sales approach that demonstrates benefits aligned with the client's business objectives, ensuring the performance metrics of their payment portfolios are maximized 
  • Support the technical and product-focused responses to client requests, such as RFI/RFP, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions 
  • Operate independently on a day-to-day basis, guided by the overall strategy 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in the payments industry, preferably in product management or technology
  • Established professional who demonstrates knowledge of card and non-card payments and respective client integration/interactions
  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work creatively and independently
  • Experience in simplifying the complex and removing usability and technical barriers to execution
  • Good understanding of the payment’s compliance landscape
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Passion for future of payments
  • Solid understanding of modern technologies (e.g. APIs, cloud solutions etc.)
  • Sales skills with understanding of the sales process and sales mechanics
  • Curious and inquisitive problem solver – thrives in difficult and big problem spaces with a bias for action
  • Driven, resilient, with attention to detail, great with numbers and positive under pressure
  • Experience working across European markets
  • Ability to balance complex mix of interpersonal skills, technical proficiency, and commercial judgement to drive outcomes
