The Opportunity
As QBE Capital’s role as the Groups principal capital and exposure management vehicle continues to evolve in support of QBE’s strategic priorities, we’re offering an exciting new opportunity within the QBE Capital Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function.
This role offers significant exposure to senior QBE Capital leadership (including MD, CFO and General Counsel) with the potential for Board and Regulatory interactions and provides the opportunity to influence enterprise‑level decision making through effective risk oversight and challenge.
If you’re a confident professional with a strong ERM background in (re)insurance, and you’re motivated by providing independent oversight while supporting the business to make informed risk-based decisions, we’d welcome your application.
Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.
About QBE
At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.
We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.
What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance - QBE Capital, you’ll partner closely with QBE Capital’s senior leadership to provide independent Line 2 risk and compliance oversight, expert advice and constructive challenge across enterprise risks, including compliance and regulatory matters.
You’ll play a visible role in shaping and strengthening QBE Capital’s enterprise risk management approach, while modelling QBE’s values and promoting a transparent and positive risk culture.
With a small and growing team, this role offers clear scope to broaden responsibility and develop into a senior, trusted risk adviser within the organisation.
Partner with QBE Capital business leaders to implement QBE’s Risk Management Strategy and Enterprise Risk Management Framework
Provide independent Line 2 oversight and challenge to Line 1 risk management practices, identifying gaps and driving effective remediation
Conduct deep‑dives, targeted assurance reviews and advisory activities across material risk classes and QBE Capital’s top risks

Coordinate key risk‑related regulatory filings as part of the annual submission to the BMA
Contribute to the ongoing development of a small, specialist Risk & Compliance team, supporting its growth and maturity
This role interacts with stakeholders across the Group and global time zones, requiring a flexible working approach.
About you
Proven experience in a Line 2 (or Line 3) ERM or assurance role, providing independent oversight and challenge rather than operational delivery
Experience working within insurance or reinsurance market, with prior experience in a global organisation desirable
Familiarity with reinsurance, risk transfer mechanisms and related concepts such as exposure management and capital and solvency monitoring/modelling
Confidence engaging with senior executives, balancing supportive partnership with effective challenge
Strong communication and presentation skills, able to influence and articulate complex risk issues to senior stakeholders
