About the Team

Solutions & Multi Asset (S&MA) is a global team, managing portfolios using a wide range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, infrastructure and other alternatives. The team manage $50bn on behalf of institutional and retail clients across global regions. Our large team includes Investment Management, Global Macro & Strategic Asset Allocation, Manager Research, Client Solutions and Implementation resources, supported by Fidelity’s significant operational infrastructure to deliver investment services to clients. These resources support investment decision-making across a range of portfolio construction disciplines, including tactical asset allocation, strategy selection and risk management.

Purpose of your role

This role supports the decision making of the Multi Asset Manager Selection Research team and the Multi Asset Portfolio Managers. The Associate is required to have a strong understanding of Fixed Income markets, investment strategies and products. Curiosity, strong analytical skills and attention to detail will enable the evaluation of investment products and ultimately investment recommendation that meet the briefs of stakeholders and generate alpha. To be successful the individual must be able to prioritise competing tasks, communicate in a manner that expresses conviction and influences others and have a desire to go above and beyond to meet client needs.

The ability to work collaboratively is crucial with the individual in role needing to engage with various teams internally and externally providing ideas and insights and making valuable contributions to debate and discussion.

  • Research, recommend and monitor a broad range of strategies across the fixed income landscape
  • Provide recommendations, advice and research notes to support Fidelity Multi Asset portfolio managers and product range
  • Provide, monitor and update model portfolios of managers in line with risk/return specifications
  • Contribute ideas and insights to regular team research meetings
  • Discuss investment ideas with the Solutions & Multi Asset team
  • Engage with the Fixed Income franchise when relevant, to gain a deeper understanding of developments
  • Engage with the Solutions & Multi Asset Client Solutions team to support appropriate and high-quality messaging in client materials when investment ideas are discussed.
  • Interact with other members of the research team and portfolio managers daily

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • At least 5 years of experience in Asset Management industry
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to explain complex strategies in simple, transparent ways
  • Systems experience – Morningstar, Bloomberg, eVestment combined with strong numerical (Excel) skills
  • Working towards, or holding the CFA qualification
  • Team player with the proven ability to work collaboratively
  • An inquisitive mind with excellent attention to detail
  • Deadline oriented and highly organised
